Great to be part of this tomorrow as part of the London Games Festival. I’ll be sharing an excerpt from The Listening Body (work in progress), shaped through conversations and interviews with Evelyn Glennie, alongside a round table on listening as an embodied experience. #LondonGamesFestival

Thank you @streetwiseopera and @englishnationalopera for inviting me to participate in a brilliant and inspiring workshop for artists and practitioners, focusing on co-creating stories, music with communities. Excellently led, inspiring team and a wonderful cohort. And tickets to see The Rhinegold in the evening was special.
I was interviewed yesterday with writer @geoff_thompson_official on Sky News Live about our film Three Sacks Full of Hats on Alcohol Awareness Week with Sky News presenter @skynewssarah Thank you @skynewssarah and @skynews for inviting us to talk to you about the film. #skynews #alcoholawarenessweek #shortdrama #familydrama Director @debbie.anzalone Writer @geoff_thompson_official Watch film on this link: /254587/
“I guess the starting point for any project is the script. Geoff is a wonderful writer, and I immediately connected with his raw, powerful and brutally honest story and characters. Even in its short form each member of the family was so well layered and you learn so much about them, not just by their actions and dialogue but often by what they don’t say.”- Warren Brown. “This story is tragic and so truthful. So many families are living with alcoholism. Many don’t know where to turn. Many just try and cope as best they can. It can be a condition that people feel guilty and embarrassed about. Or, a condition they will not admit to, or face up to. It can be a nightmare. This film deals with the hidden trauma it often causes.”- Alison Steadman. Link for film in bio. #alcoholawarenessweek #threesacksfullofhats
“I’m 35 years sober and I related to this script entirely. Playing the drunk dad, well, I was one. The tragedy of the illness, the denial, the family ripple effect, it’s a story I have heard thousands upon thousands of times all over the world. I’ve had a miracle in sobriety, a singularity of hope and faith, a rebirth. In this script there is only pain and death and denial - sadly, this is the predominant outcome of alcoholism. Being asked to do this was a chance to put something back. If one…just one person gets on to the AA and works the program, then being a part of this film will have been worth a life...a whole life.”- David Sterne #alcoholawarenessweek2020 #threesacksfullofhats
“I thought the script was fantastic and like nothing I had been involved in before. A sympathetic study of the tragic effects of alcohol abuse on one family. Though the film highlights the devastating impact of drinking culture it also drips with humanity and compassion, and the reality of a situation that affects us all. And through the waves of sadness I loved the way the script combined with Debbie's direction left a beat of optimism at the end, this family, whilst being utterly devastated would survive, and maybe become stronger. I found that profoundly moving. And on a personal note, having the brilliant Alison Steadman as an onscreen Mum was a wish fulfilled.” Tom Meeten #ThreeSacksFullOfHats @tommeeten #alcoholawarenessweek
#ThreeSacksFullOfHats will be screening in solidarity with #AlcoholAwarenessWeek, which this year is all about the link between alcohol and mental health. It’s all too easy for our drinking to creep up, particularly at times like this, so it was important to release this film now so people can experience the addiction’s complexities through the prism of this family story. #familydrama #shortfilms #womendirectors Link to film in bio.
