“Come for the winters, stay for the summers.” And it’s so true. Mountain summers have a way of making you remember what winter was for. Hospitality and lifestyle photographer Ryan Dearth @dearth traces a couple through a full day as guests at @thejacquard , a boutique Cherry Creek hotel, from check-in through a rooftop dinner above the Denver skyline. Shot on location in the fall, the project reflects Dearth's approach to hospitality work: narrative-driven, attentive to environment and light, and built around the full arc of a guest experience. I’ve changed and shifted in quite a few ways over the past few years, but 2025 was a big recalibration. Lots of testing and experimentation. Some worked, others didn’t. A few ideas I couldn’t shake. These are some of my favorite frames from 2025. Personal and Professional. More to see at the link in my bio.

This year had some phenomenal moments. One stand out shoot was with this BMW X1, which started from a tiny camp off the Blue Ridge Parkway—just me, @steinbergerphoto , a couple of days, and one car. We swapped keys, cameras, and roles—driving, directing, and shooting—to see what’s possible with a lean two-person crew, building a small but focused set of images around this BMW on the mountain roads. All of this came from one campsite and a lot of miles… proof you don’t always need a big production to create strong automotive work. These are my edits—check out Richard’s at @steinbergerphoto

15 years ago today, I quit my corporate job and started my photography business full-time (well, technically, I worked seasonally at REI for a month when I first started). I had no clients, no website, no money. It was a crazy time, but I foolishly took the leap and made it work. I'm lucky to make a living with a camera. That's never been lost on me. None of this happens alone, and I’m constantly reminded how many hands it takes to lift a creative career. It's been a winding, foggy road to make it this far, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Thanks to everyone who believed in what I was building and supported me along the way.

Three portraits from a recent project documenting the historic Colorado Golf Club outside Denver. Shot for a newly released book celebrating the club’s legacy and the people who’ve shaped it. The challenge with portrait work like this is capturing the character of each subject while maintaining visual consistency across the series—balancing natural light, location aesthetics, and the individual presence each person brings to the frame. . . . . . #portraitphotography #coloradophotographer #editorialphotography #environmentalportrait #golfersofinstagram

Editing your portfolio is so hard. That’s because you’re emotionally tied to the work. You remember all the pieces and logistics that went into getting the shot. Whereas the viewer doesn’t know that back story. That’s why Ryan has worked with consultants to help tailor his portfolio over the years. They aren’t tied to the work and can see how and what images will best represent the type of work he wants to get. That’s how the objectivity piece comes into play. Hop over to listen into our whole conversation. We talk about all the transitions he’s made: from physics to photography, weddings to travel, and now into commercial work. We also dig into how persistence in his marketing has paid off and how he’s experimenting with adding LinkedIn into his strategy. Link in bio or head to Apple Podcasts or Spotify to listen. #commercialphotographer #freelancephotographer #linkedinmarketing #businessofphotography

@corinagabbert and I went to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta this weekend. Like everyone else, it was on our bucket list. I know this because they sell a TON of merchandise that says, “✅ bucket list” on it. It’s been a while since I slung a camera around my neck just for fun, and the sights didn’t disappoint. 10/10 would recommend. #balloonfiesta
