Case Conover is an Oakland-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores introspection, transformation, and emotional landscapes through layered visual storytelling. A graduate of Oberlin College, Conover brings a deeply human and reflective sensibility to his practice, often blending vulnerability, texture, and symbolism into pieces that feel both intimate and expansive. Currently residing in Oakland, his work is rooted in themes of memory, identity, and the evolving relationship between inner and outer worlds.

Dear John was built around a question: what happens when we stop clinging so tightly to who we thought we were supposed to be?
What started as a shop became a living archive of transition — of heartbreak, reinvention, beauty, longing, friendship, risk, softness, and starting over. Every object, event, artist, and conversation inside these walls is part of that story.

Having a mother and being a mother - it’s something only we get to experience.
Stop making it casual. It’s a big fucking deal.
Whether biologically, or by virtue of your inherent desire to be a parent to a child - it’s nothing casual. And we need to stop pretending that it is.
To my mother friends - STOP being hard on yourself. I know with everything in my bones that you’re doing your absolute best and you have a deep desire to do better. That’s plenty.
To my non-mother friends, thank you for being there. You’re a touchstone on a journey that feels so unfamiliar that it’s easy to get lost.
To my dad friends - please know that while we make operating as the literal force of life’s creation look easy, it is absolutely not. Send the mom in your life to a retreat where she can be scrubbed from head to toe and sit in the sun. She’s been through enough.
