I first did @laughienda on my 9th ever gig in 2022 and it was by far the worst set I’ve ever done in my life. In front of my Mum. I was talking about swimming. I talked about swimming for too long. I said that people that do backstroke are serial killers and then did an act out of a serial killer doing backstroke chasing a little kid called Jimmy who was doing breast stroke - I also did an act out of little Jimmy trying to get away from the serial killer. In case you forgot, my Mum was in the audience and from that moment on anytime I spoke about stand up I could hear in her voice what she was thinking “oh you’re still doing that…”. 4 years later, I went back to the same room, this time I had fun, and the day after I did a show at @hopandhazlewood and again, my Mum was in the audience. This time she had fun. Gigging in the town I grew up in was proper weird. Everyone was lovely though. And I think I redeemed myself for that swimming nonsense 4 years ago, genuinely surprised I managed to get booked again after that
