Before there was âAlexa, play a songâ, there was âDean play a songâ. I would always say yes. To me, melodies are a tribute to the wonders of life - itâs one of the ways Iâve found to express gratitude.
Playing in nature with the love of my life, how grateful I am for these moments. Just being ourselves with no judgement. Thatâs also how we play. Our process with music comes out of the moment - thatâs how we feel more comfortable. A composer write it down also, but they are hearing it too. We just play it and our intentions come out a lot stronger that way.
Almost 56 years since we met: living in a van and traveling the county, having 3 children, creating a business, dealing with life hardships, becoming grandparents.
During all this time we kept in mind that we are complete in ourselves and we work on that. We work on our self development, so we can love each and admire each other. Itâs something we learned from Native American elders: in order to love somebody, you have to love yourself first.
Every day, I feel blessed to get to experience a love that feels peaceful, inspiring, healing, and real. Life becomes softer, brighter, more meaningful when you get to walk through it with your favorite soul beside you.

My wife and I took a trip a few years ago to explore the most stunningly beautiful canyon ranges. We met our friend Scott Huckabay there and it turned into something unforgettable. Surrounded by towering stone, open sky, and deep silence, we played music right there in the landscape, filmed the raw beauty around us, and let the place itself shape the sound.
There was something about the energy of those canyons, ancient, vast, and alive that sparked a wave of inspiration. From that experience, our album Sacred Canyons was born, carrying the feeling of those moments where nature and music became one.
