Április 8-ĂĄn nyĂlt @aron_tothheyn Áronnal közös kiĂĄllĂtĂĄsunk a BarabĂĄs Villa galĂ©riĂĄjĂĄban 'TökĂ©letes Jelen' cĂmmel. Nagy köszönet mĂ©g @barabas_villa , hogy lehetƑsĂ©get kaptunk Ă©s a tanĂĄrainknak, akik segĂtettek lĂ©trehozni ezeket a projekteket. Our exhibition with Áron opened on April 8 at BarabĂĄs Villa’s gallery. It will be there for another week. I really loved how we ended up putting it together—(far from perfect) the opening to KudĂĄsz GĂĄbor Arion, Andrea PĂĄsztor's lyrical and Hajdu Levente’s provocative text. Then, I was also incredibly happy about the regime change. For a while, the present somehow became quite good. Everything being full of sparkling energy; it was easy to resist turning this into a post. Now, however, it’s harder, I’ve realized our works will only be on display for another week. With May 1, the “Perfect Present” is over. So a huge thank you to everyone who came and was there with us. On the 30th, we’ll be there with Áron in the afternoon and evening. If anyone is up to saying goodbye together to the moment that is just passing and sweeping the exhibition with it, then join us. Many thanks to BarabĂĄs Villa for the opportunity and to our teach's support in realising these projects. (p.s) The BW book is also there in English.

I hoped to post about the ‘Two Days in Budapest’ book project last January, but posting doesn’t come easy, usually, just the thinking about it already offsets a range of calamities inside. But almost a year passed, and last week, I had the chance to take the books to @offbratislava with MOME Photo as part of the OFF Academy Section together with @peachy_watson . I am very thankful that I could go, as a result rework the dummies, and show this work which is a commentary on our current socio-political climate playing out in the context and fabric of the city. So ’Two Days in Budapest’ was the name of a group project, the collective continuation of the project ‘One Day in Budapest’. The latter was realised 21 years ago by a group of photographers to create a snapshot of Budapest within the timeframe of a single chosen date. In 2024, first-year @mome___photography students and photographers from the original group examined the city again, this time on a regular weekday (Oct. 8 and a public holiday (Oct. 23), our collective work was exhibited last december at MOME’s Gallery. These book-zines were thus created within this broader creative context of our assignment, with invaluable support from Krisztina Erdei, who was the hearth of the project, Anna Fabricius, who encouraged me to play with different sequencing and narrative-building that led to the idea of forming the material as a book, and Kudasz G. Arion and Geller Judit for rethinking and preparing it together for the OFF. All the repro takes here are of the first Hungarian dummies, and the cover both joining and separating them.

These are a few more pages from ZĂĄradĂ©k (Close), a work that lives in this slim photobook form, as well as is the first self-publishing attempt. Printed on a raw structured, ivory-white paper, its 60 pages hold some black and white somberness. There are still few copies available from the first edition, at the size of 31,5*23,5. There is also a copy in Turbina right now as part of the ‘How do you fit in’ group show.

Tomorrow, as part of the BPF ‘How Do You Fit In’ group exhibition at Turbina with fellow Mome students, ‘ZĂĄradĂ©k’ or ‘Close’ will be also on show. đŸ˜ŠđŸ’« The work visually reflects on forms of connection and the loss of it. It was realized as part of the wonderful Photobook Making Workshop by LehetƑsĂ©gek Tere in 2024.

This September, I started the MA program in Photography at MOME. After five years of applications and rejections to programs, and lots of hard work, this year I made it. đŸ„č Then for the next 5 months, from time to time, I thought about how and when to break the news beyond a smaller circle of friends and family. Yesterday, with a sweet surprise, I was given the MOME Photography Succession Award, award passed from student to student each semester, and I felt encouraged to start sharing these good news, dare to make my work more visible- and also to thank for my teachers, the program that this all is becoming possible. And especially thanking @fabriciusa for her mentorship and for my sweet class. This is to a new start! đŸ’«@mome___photography —- Two Days in Budapest, our MA1 group exhibition, where my photo-text book project is also shown, will re-open after the holidays in January. @mome_budapest

Last summer, as part of the ‘THE UN-SCENE: Capturing the Absence by Wandering’ class lead by inspiring @angelabonadiesf and @the_wandering_eye_project at the @summeracademy.at , I started to explore different ways of moving through, conveying/documenting a place. Through this small work, called ‘Notations on Salzburg’ I attempted to look at a) the practice and tools of translating subjective perceptions and sensations into tangible materials which aim also to fulfil a sort of function of documentation and sense-making about a place and b) do the reverse: take tangible materials, found objects, marks and references and transpose them in a way which challenges documentation. This parallel duality aims at looking at the tension between an attitude of recording and an attitude of constructing in the process of relating to the surrounding. Many thanks to the wonderful team of the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts for making this medieval castle space so welcoming. Two old, by mistake out of focus portraits which I still somehow really like: a man standing at a free beach close to Tihany, and mom on a walk through the fields outside of Kecskemét.

The costal route around Ilfracombe has several stairways carved into stone connecting bigger beaches to smaller coves. These are the ones swallowed by the tides daily. One wonders how they started out and how they will look in the far future from all that persistent tailoring by water and stone. With trees the wear and tear comes quicker, but there are notes in there from the same drama. #northdevoncoast #ilfracombe #ukbeaches #englandcoastpath

This is thinking about the power of hope and persisting through hard or alienating times. Brings me back to the Louise GlĂŒck poem which I often leaned on during the fall. A kind of footing to be found amongst words, a springboard, solace, a place of return. " (...) how heavy my mind is, filled with the past. Is there enough room for the world to penetrate? It must go somewhere, it cannot simply sit on the surface. * Starts gleaming over the water. The leaves piled, waiting to be lit. * Insight my sister said. Now it is here. But hard to see in the darkness. * You must find your footing before you put your weight on it." #louisegluck #viadeglidei #kalimedence #zemplĂ©n #basel #places #anotherplace #poetry
