Described by BBC Radio as a “rising star of British Jazz” saxophonist Duncan Eagles @deagles_ is a virtuosic improviser with a distinctive sound. Perhaps best known for his work with the critically acclaimed Partikel he also performs regularly under his own name, most recently opening for Joshua Redman at the Barbican. Describing his approach as “cinematic and expressive”, Duncan cites influences from funk and blues to contemporary jazz. For this performance Duncan will be joined by the highly regarded Russian-born pianist Igor Yakovenko @igor__yakovenko along with the excellent @maxluthert Max Luthert-bass & @billypod Billy Pod-drums.

Mario Bakuna Band invites the audience to celebrate two of the most important artists of all time: the American saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto in a tribute to the iconic album Getz/Gilberto.
Getz/Gilberto was recorded in 1963 and is considered the album that popularised bossa nova worldwide and is one of the best-selling jazz records of all time, selling over one million copies. It was widely acclaimed by music critics, received the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, and also became the first non-American album to win Album of the Year, in 1965.
In an evening full of harmonic richness, Mario Bakuna Band will transport the audience on an incredible journey through one of our most treasured musical pieces.

2025! Turned 40, opened a bakery and welcomed our (@yuko_jazz ) beautiful daughter into the world. The hardest but most rewarding year so far. Also played some lovely music with some lovely people.
