We’ve listened to the feedback from BSL users and have created this step-by-step video to make accessing support through our website even clearer.
In the video, we show you:
• How to access support by visiting afplus.org
• What happens when the form automatically appears on your screen
• How to select the type of support you need including help with PIP payments (advicePLUS), finances (moneyPLUS), energy bills (energyPLUS), general advice or wellbeing (wellbeingPLUS).
• What to do if you select the wrong option (don’t worry, we can sort this internally)
• How to upload a video in BSL instead of writing in English
• How to record and submit a selfie video explaining your situation
• How to choose your preferred contact method, BSL via FaceTime, or written English by text or email
There is no requirement to write in English.
You will just need to provide your name, email and mobile number before submitting the form.
We are committed to making our services clearer and more accessible, and we thank you for your feedback.

Accessibility online starts with awareness.
For Deaf and deafblind communities, clear communication matters, from lighting and positioning to clothing choices and captions.
Small changes can make content easier to understand and more inclusive for everyone.
This Deaf Awareness Week, take a moment to think about how your content is seen, understood, and experienced by others. 💙

Financial services play a major role in everyday life, yet many deaf people still face barriers when trying to access clear information, communication, and support within the industry.
This report, Deaf Equity in Financial Services, highlights the real experiences and challenges deaf people face when navigating financial systems and why accessibility and inclusion must continue to improve across the sector.
By sharing real stories, data, and lived experiences, this report opens an important conversation about equal access, deaf awareness, and creating services that work for everyone.
If you work within financial services, have experienced these barriers yourself, or want to better understand the importance of accessibility, we encourage you to read the report and be part of the conversation.
Happy Deaf Awareness Week.

Access to clear information should never be a barrier, yet many deaf people are still left navigating services that are not built with them in mind, often leading to confusion, stress, and feeling unsupported.
At deafPLUS services, we exist to change that by delivering deaf-aware support that is clear, accessible, and built around real everyday needs, ensuring people feel understood and confident in the decisions they make.
Through AdvicePLUS, WellbeingPLUS, MoneyPLUS, and EnergyPLUS, we provide guidance that helps you understand your options, manage your situation, and move forward with clarity, whether that is with your finances, your wellbeing, or staying safe and informed with energy services.
Our focus is simple: to remove barriers, build confidence, and make sure no one feels like they have to face these challenges alone.
Happy Deaf Awareness Week!

Last week, our Bromley office attended Care Information Day in Orpington!
It was a really informative and worthwhile day, giving us the opportunity to meet new people, network, and raise awareness of our services within the local community.
One of the highlights was meeting Gemma Turrell, who was especially interested in energyPLUS and our CO alarm support.
It’s great to see our services reaching such a wide audience and connecting with the community in meaningful ways.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak with us!
