RoundTails carve smooth rolling turns & cutbacks. The high area tail planes up early allowing for paddling ease, eary wave entry & plenty of straight line trim speed.

Bi Axial Basalt. Derived from crushed volcanic rock then melted to 3,000 degrees & extruded thru nozzles creating strands that are woven into fabric. On a par w/carbon fiber yet les brittle & more flexible. Revchem supplies.

The two boards in back (on the right & left) carried my "365" label. These were semi eggy shapes that were the precursor to Marc Andreini's uber popular "Vaquero" as I handed the reins over to Marc, who had built the Owls years b4. I left Surf 'n Wear in the L8 70's to travel until Jack O'neill hired me to run the O' Shop in Santa Cruz (1980-81).

BF archives circa 1971. These were boards built when I revived the "Owl" Surfboards label started by Jeff White (rip) in the early 60's.

An assortment of reinforcing tapes interwoven with Glass, Hemp, Flax, Basalt & Carbon. The Basalt rivals carbon fiber in many respects, while being more flexible to recover from heavy load bearing scenarios. Basalt also handles impact better than carrbon because it is less brittle. Carbon is strong, but it is also stiff & when it fails, it explodes.
