Fantasy doesn’t always mean robes and runes.
When @twistedworksltd asked us to help shape the @playcastouts logo, we put our wizard hats down and picked up our Oyster cards.
Inspired by Johnston and London transport typography, we built a bold geometric wordmark with custom cuts and extensions that break rhythm and reflect the game’s rebellious, high-energy tone. The result is a confident, memorable identity designed to stand apart from the game’s vibrant world and visceral spellcasting.
Follow the link in our bio to view the logo case study on our website.
If @playcastouts is already on your radar, you can also add it to your Steam wishlist. We’re very much looking forward to playing more!
Meet Paolo Parrucci, Dead Nice’s first recruit landing of 2026. A bona-fide UI+UX wizard with a decade-plus trail of game credits that reads like a mini hall of fame.
As Dead Nice continues to grow its end-to-end UI + UX offering, Paolo joins us to strengthen our technical foundations while pushing creative thinking further, helping us support studios of all sizes with smart, flexible, production-proven UI teams.
We sat down with Paolo to talk about wearing many hats, cancelled dream projects, creative hills worth dying on and why Dead Nice felt like his people.

We’ll be technically at Pocket Gamer Connects London 2026 on Tuesday 20th January… but realistically you’ll find us orbiting Pocket Gamer side events and after-hours hangouts, tracking down the best conversations.
If you want to chat about your game’s UI + UX, from early wireframes to full UI implementation, we’re always happy to talk shop during the many in-between moments. Expect enthusiastic chats about menus, UX flows and the bits of Pocket Gamer London that don’t show up on the schedule (karaoke anyone?).
Drop us a message here or grab us in the wild. Bonus points if it’s at The Jugged Hare or somewhere equally convenient for “networking”.
See you at PG… or the pub. Probably the pub.

LEVEL 1 COMPLETE! 💥💀🌸👹#
Dead Nice just hit our first anniversary and what an incredible year it’s been!
From day one, our mission has been simple: create UI/UX experiences that are bold, thoughtful and above all - player focused. We’re seriously grateful to all the amazing teams who’ve trusted us to bring their worlds to life through UI design that feels as good as it looks.
This is just the beginning. We’ve got plenty more weird and wonderful creative ideas for your game’s UI!
Thank you for being part of our squad. Here’s to many more Dead Nice years ahead!
It was super great to meet you all at @pgconnectsconf London! A great way to start 2025!
Everyone we talked to was hopeful that this year will be a tad easier than last year! Let’s concentrate on that and put all our collective energy towards the things we love. ❤️
In our case it's helping game developers create smooth player experiences via stylish and functional UI + UX!
We're kicking off 2025 with our new regular series: "UI Design Decoded!" where we take a peek into our UI design process from past projects. 👀
First up, we’re diving into Blood & Truth. This ground-breaking VR FPS from 2018 was a game-changer, we partnered with Sony London Studio over the course of the year to create early UI look development all the way through to implementation.
Blood & Truth is still one of our all-time favourites, and designing UI for VR comes with its own set of challenges to overcome, so check out the slides below for some tasty UI design nuggets.
If you are looking for end-to-end UI/UX support for your game, please book a meeting with us through the link in our bio!
On the 12 Days of UI Christmas, Dead Nice gave to me… a workshop for your game’s UI that is totally FREE! 🎅
That’s right, we’re spreading festive cheer and top-notch UI expertise this year. For 12 days in the run-up to Christmas, we’re offering free interactive UI workshops where our team will:
✨ Review and discuss your game’s UI (we’ll find out what’s naughty or nice).
✨Share advice on how to make your game look and play better than ever next year.
✨ Get stuck into collaborative design magic right there in the session. Yes, we’ll help you sketch and brainstorm better UI ideas together!
✨ Once the workshop wraps, we’ll gift you a detailed analysis of what we covered and suggestions for your next steps so you can make a list and check it twice.
Spots are limited (we can only drink so much mulled wine and still be productive), so grab your place while they last! Let’s get your game UI looking so good, you will be top of the DEAD NICE list for 2025!

We had the privilege of attending Access November: UK Game Accessibility Symposium 2024, hosted by Tencent and supported by Ukie.
The event brought together experts from the games industry, academia, and charities to discuss how accessibility efforts can make a difference and the challenges that still need to be tackled.
While the speakers came from many different fields, one thing was clear: that working together across industries is crucial to building a more inclusive future for gaming.
Thanks to all the speakers for their insightful thoughts on accessibility from such diverse angles:
John Dickens, @tencentgames
Jozef Kulik, @splash_damage
Cameron Akitt, @playstationuk
Stacey Jenkins, @ubisoft
Rodrigo Sanchez
张晓春Xiaochun Zhang, Centre for Translation Studies @ucl
And thank you to all the panellists for their interesting and well-needed discussion:
@sightlesskombat@rnib
Andrew Bromilow, @everyonecanuk
Professor Dean Mohamedally, @motioninputgames
At Dead Nice we see accessibility as a cornerstone of great design. As UI + UX specialists, our mission is to create experiences that welcome all players and make games more inclusive. Accessibility is not an extra step, it’s woven into everything we do. We’re excited to continue partnering with others to ensure gaming is for everyone.
Deadlines creeping up? 👻 Investors breathing down your neck? It’s time for a Dead Nice approach to your game’s UI/UX! 🎮
We know that the majority of vertical slices have end-of-year deadlines, and you can’t afford to ignore great UI/UX design—especially when it can make or break your game’s first impression.

If you’re looking to make your game stand out, our experienced team is ready to help you create sleek, intuitive designs that attract players and keep them hooked.
Here’s how we can support your game’s development:
🎨 Style Guides
🔧 Wireframes & Prototypes
🎮 UI/UX Design
🖌 Asset & Icon Production
🔄 Engineering & Implementation
♿ Accessibility Consultations
☠️ BONUS: Secure a FREE 30-minute UI Workshop with our expert team! We’ll walk through your UI/UX needs and show you how small changes can mean BIG results. Whether you’re polishing a vertical slice or building from the ground up, we’re here to ensure your game is set for success.
