A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I was a boy once. I was obsessed with Arca and Depeche Mode, and made music on my own as Herostratus. I envisioned a double album called Pale Ship, Dark Sea but my ideas were much greater than anything I had the power to commit to. In 2019 I released 7 songs, which fell woefully short of my vision. Over the years I’ve dabbled with the idea of seeing this project through to the end. I’ve recorded another three songs since then. The unfinished outtakes are tacked on as well. Some of my finest work I think, but a song is a lump of coal, not a diamond. It’s no good being as precious over them as I was back then. The full album’s finally on Bandcamp for those interested. Closer to a decade on than to the day I first released it. Anyway, new Dead Actors soon.
We have been awoken from our slumber on the bed of the fetid Thames to record some music in Woolwich. Here at Dead Actors we value your custom and support. Please bear with us during this difficult time as we produce new materials.

Evil Hour is five today. This was the song that made us think we should start a band.
Pic 2 is Danny and me on one of our many sunrise walks along the cliffside path that subconsciously inspired this song. We asked a stranger to take this at around 6 AM, I think, after a long night. We’re older now and making our second album. We’re still too young to be doing reflective posts such as this but life can be cruel.
The footage is taken from Figures of Absence, a collection of works made between 1968 and 1976, by Dore O.
Let it be known that we’ve submitted a request for a geo-block on our music in Israel. We urge everyone else who’s released music on streaming platforms to do the same and check out @nomusicforgenocide .
This is guerrilla footage from the Imax cinema, where we’ve seized control to play this on repeat. We hope that the inconvenienced audiences will be charmed by the effort we put in and come to see us out of curiosity, or, perhaps, out of sympathy.
Our next show is on Friday at @thecavpresents . It’s all quite self-explanatory.
“BRIGHT WHITE BLINDING LIGHT that pierces through your skull.
Stood in the flames of your childhood home after too many nights in the cold.”
Bright White Blinding Light is the final song from our latest EP, Abused and Pampered Horses, which, it would be auspicious to reiterate, is on Bandcamp and streaming platforms now.
We’re headlining the Rossi Bar on Friday the 30th of May with @coma_red_band , @scruff.wav and @crowdband_ . You’ll get there for the first band and stay till the last if you know what’s good for you. It’s £5 at the point of entry.
The film is OffOn (1967) by Scott Bartlett.
“They’re shooting down UFO’s in the USA…”
This song is Nearly Valentine’s Day, the second track from our EP, Abused and Pampered Horses, which you should listen to. It’s everywhere and anywhere you can imagine. Not least in the link in our bio.
We’re playing some shows soon. On the 11th of May in London at the Sebright Arms and on the 30th of May at the Rossi Bar in Brighton.
The film is Wrik Mead’s 1998 short, Cupid.
We’re playing two shows in May. Everyone in the business worth their salt knows that’s a tour.
We’re excited to be playing the Sebright Arms for the first time on Sunday the 11th of May. It’s a free show and a great lineup with Blue Amber and Stay in Nothing for Scream/Shout. RSVP link in our bio.
When I made this poster we had more shows lined up, so now it’s an abject lesson in complacency. Nevertheless, if you want to see more dates up there, send us a message. Stay humble.
Abused and Pampered Horses has been out for a few weeks and remains thus. It can be found wherever there is music.
We have some shows to announce shortly, one of which is a very special headline show in Brighton, God’s most forsaken seaside tourism-hotspot.
This song is Bullet Train to Leeds, taken from our EP.
The film is 10/65 Selbstverstümmelung (1965), directed by Kurt Kren.
ABUSED AND PAMPERED HORSES is out today!
You can find it on the usual streaming platforms as well as Bandcamp. All the relevant links are in our bio. Five songs, 27 minutes, the sum of a year’s work.
“It was on the outskirts of town where my rudder ran aground, or so to speak, with my trousers round my ankles.”
Thanks to @jamestobinstudio , @xylophonetrack , @mazthingz and @thicctitious for their art, piano, accordion and backing vocals.
Thank you to everyone who’s paid attention to us in otherwise uninterested rooms. You have to pick a spot on the wall and keep banging on it till you get to the other side.
Gratitude is also due to @climaxrecordingstudio who understood us and helped us realise our ideas beyond what we thought possible.
Our next show is at the Pipeline in Brighton on the 13th of April.
