DANA was in Leg Hall today putting in the work.
We were advocating for HB 392, which would prohibit nonprofits from endorsing candidates and banning use of charitable funds for partisan purposes.
The DE Nonprofit Nonpartisanship Protection Act would codify the Johnson Amendment, a 1954 federal law protecting nonprofits from partisan political pressure.

At DANA, we see firsthand how many women across Delaware’s nonprofit sector lead with compassion, resilience, and heart both at home and in their work. From supporting families and advocating for change to building stronger communities, nonprofit professionals give so much of themselves every day.
Today, we celebrate the care, leadership, and impact of the incredible women helping Delaware thrive. We also hold space for those spending today missing a mother, grandmother, caregiver, child, or loved one. Mother’s Day can carry both joy and remembrance, and we are thinking of all those honoring someone they have lost.

Delaware nonprofits are a significant economic driver of jobs, wages, and goods and services in the First State – and now there’s hard data.
DANA’s study is the first detailed analysis of Delaware nonprofits as an industry and their impact on the state’s economy. Nonprofits employ ~15% of the private-sector workforce and pay ~16% of private-sector wages.
DANA EVP Melissa Hopkins: “Nonprofits don’t just clothe, house, feed, counsel and care for our neighbors; we create tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs and contribute billions into the local economy while delivering those vital services to Delawareans.”
