A MAN CALLED LIKE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MONTH is the story of a man who lives through the memory of others. A Man is a visual poem through sculpture that interrogantes the regulation of bodies at work, biopolitics, identity and memory. Team grading with @de_ce_pe - Text by @a.gandarillas : Following the death of my father due to an illness contracted through his work at a state run utility I set out to question exactly how identity is formed in the context of a public health system hijacked by power and the effect of capital. I also sought to interrogate the memories that conform that identity; my own, my fathers and the resulting mnemonic mirage. A Man ultimately asks: How do we preserve memories in the context of a technological society? What are the biological repercussions of progress and what does it leave in its wake? The film was shot on location in Spain and France in 2022. The spaces chosen for the installation of the sculpture “families” are an homage to my memories and those of my family. My father’s name was Julio (July in Spanish). All pieces were made by ceramic and fired at 1260 degrees celsius.
