~ Hello Everyone!
👋🏼
I’ve been wanting to introduce myself to this platform for a while now and I think finally it’s time to show my face a little more ( even though I can be camera shy ). My name is Estefani, sole owner of De La Flore. It’s so nice to see new faces here and thought I would share a few things about my company and myself.
🌿
For those who do not know, De La Flore translates to ‘From the flower’ in Spanish minus the E at the end. The meaning behind the name roots much deeper than just the creation of the name.
I wanted a name to reflect a missing part of my identity. A little fact about me: I’m from El Salvador and came as a refugee to Canada, (because of civil war), when I was 2 yrs old. One period in El Salvador history that was awful amongst many other things that took place before and after. Although I’m grateful to be here, I missed out on a lot of beautiful things from El Salvador and never felt like I belonged. 🥀
I knew that when I first wanted to open my floral business it had to, first off be, eco-friendly, natural, creative, and with as much local products as possible. But I also needed my business to reflect my background in some way as I’ve always struggled to find a connection to that other part of me. I am still processing and reflecting on how to bring that part into my environment, into my everyday, and into the finer details of the business.
🍃
Aside from that, I wanted to create a space that was welcoming, open to all backgrounds, a place of safety, and excitement. I am so grateful to see so much growth already in the last 3 to almost 4 years and I’m working hard to make even bigger changes where I can give back to my community and other spaces too.
🌈
Thanks for the long read. Hope you enjoyed this post and hope it gives you a chance to reflect on your own self growth and inspired you to look back at your roots too. 😊✨( swipe to see me at age 5 designing my little bouquet)
