🌿 Solamente Aquí los Lunes 🌿 Dear friends, I’ve been reflecting on how I spend my time and energy — and I’ve realized how much I miss being fully present: in person, in nature, and in real connection. So, as an exercise in mindfulness and balance, I’ll be logging on only on Mondays to check messages and, occasionally, share a post or update. During this time, I won’t be viewing stories or scrolling — just staying intentional with my presence here. As the cliché goes, “it’s not you, it’s me,” but in this case, it truly is. I simply want to spend less time on my devices and more time engaging with the world around me — helping, creating, and connecting in person. This isn’t a goodbye — just a shift toward a slower, more grounded rhythm. Thank you to everyone in this community who continues to support, share, and inspire. If you’d like to stay in touch more directly, please reach out via private message, and I’ll share other ways to connect. See you on Mondays 🌱 — Daniel

What an absolutely transformative experience it has been to be part of @marcocaridad 's @bioluminaresidency in Vieques. For an entire week, this extraordinary program gifted me the rare and beautiful opportunity to fully immerse myself in experimentation, exploration, play, collaboration and artistic discovery—while also creating meaningful community impact. Biolumina was so much more than a residency; it was a space where art, nature, education, and human connection intertwined. Through the incredible support of this program, I was able to engage with local institutions, including the beautiful Escuela Playa Grande , where I shared art-making classes alongside a cross-state collaborative project connecting their students with my beloved @artsacademyelementary in Pennsylvania. Witnessing young artists from two distinct ecosystems connect through creativity was deeply moving. This journey also included an exhibition, a cyanotype demonstration at @oro.vieques , and opportunities to learn from and connect with the vibrant arts community of Vieques—an island that feels both magical and deeply historic. Vieques is a place shaped by resilience, layered histories, breathtaking beauty, and, above all, people whose kindness and generosity leave a lasting mark. During this time, I started also to develop new work from my evolving body of work, *De Agua, Sal y Nostalgia*—a deeply personal exploration of childhood memories, joy, Caribbean light, and the impossible desire to capture sunsets and sunrises before they disappear. In Vieques, surrounded by sea salt, shifting skies, and memory, this work found new life. Thank you, Marco, Alex, and Max, for your unwavering support, generosity, and belief in both my practice and this journey. Your care made this week of magic possible. I leave Vieques profoundly inspired, deeply grateful, and excited to eventually share the work that was born from this unforgettable chapter. Until then—thank you, Vieques, for your light. 🌊☀️💙 #BioluminaResidency #Vieques #DeAguaSalYNostalgia #ArtResidency #CommunityThroughArt #Cyanotype #ArtsIntegration #DanielDjuroGoiricelaya #ElArteNosConecta

🫶🏽 Light also draws. Thank you to everyone who joined us at Oro for Daniel Djuro-Goiricelaya’s cyanotype demonstration, closing his residency at Biolumina. With water, sun, shells, fabric, and conversation, the process became a small collective ceremony: to look, to wait, to reveal. Special thanks to Sarah and Oro for generously opening their space to us. At Biolumina, the studio can be a table, a courtyard, an island. #BioluminaResidency #Vieques #Cyanotype #ArtistResidency #ArtAndNature

At Biolumina, the studio is not only a room. It is a table, a balcony, a view, a piece of fabric, a conversation, a mistake, a discovery. Daniel Djuro-Goiricelaya has been working, playing, testing, weaving, printing, and letting the materials speak. Cyanotype, textile, light, sea air, and intuition become part of the same experiment. No fixed rules. No rush. Just process, presence, and the freedom to follow what appears. This is the space as laboratory. #BioluminaResidency #Vieques #ArtistResidency #ContemporaryArt #Cyanotype

What an unforgettable evening at A Night of Many Stars✨ at the @davincisciencecenter I left feeling deeply inspired—and incredibly honored to have met @drsianproctor . Her generosity in sharing her journey to space was as powerful as it was grounding. What resonated most was not just her achievements as an astronaut, but her unwavering identity as an artist and poet—a reminder that creativity is not separate from science, but essential to it. She embodies the kind of interdisciplinary spirit we strive to cultivate in our communities and classrooms. The night itself was a beautiful testament to what happens when people come together in support of a shared vision. From the Stars of Tomorrow student showcase to the STEAM award presentations, every moment reflected the brilliance and potential of young minds being nurtured through curiosity and care. And… the otters 🦦 completely stole my heart. Watching them proudly showcase their artwork was pure magic—playful, sincere, and full of joy. It’s moments like these that remind us why spaces like this institution matter so deeply. Grateful for an evening that celebrated exploration, creativity, and the limitless possibilities that unfold when art and science meet 💫 #allentown #sciencesoiree #artistinspace

Tonight, I have the joy of participating in J Connect & Create: Archiving Dreams and Memories*at Lehigh University Art Galleries, led by the incredible Rei Ukon. There is something deeply powerful about gathering in a space where memory becomes material—where fragments of our lives are translated through collage, fabric, paint, and thread into something we can hold, witness, and share. This workshop invites us not just to make, but to remember—to sit with images of people, places, and moments that have shaped us, and honor them through creation. Rei has this rare ability to hold space in a way that feels both intentional and deeply human. Their work lives in that tender threshold between memory and dream—where emotions don’t need to be explained, only felt. Through layered materials and thoughtful facilitation, they create environments where people feel safe to explore, reflect, and connect. I’ve had the privilege of crossing paths with Rei, and it’s one of those encounters that stays with you. As an artist, educator, and community builder, they don’t just create artwork—they cultivate experiences that bring people closer to themselves and to one another. Grateful for spaces like this—open to all, where creativity becomes a bridge for reflection, connection, and community. In a world that moves quickly, tonight feels like a pause… a gentle return to the quiet archives within ourselves. ✨ #LUAG

What an unforgettable evening at the Allentown Art Museum Gala 2026 ✨ Last week, I had the joy of attending alongside my dear friend and gala partner-in-crime, Karen Tuerk—sharing laughter, reflections, and a deep appreciation for the incredible work this institution does for our community. It was one of those nights where you truly feel the heartbeat of the arts—where every conversation, every detail, every effort reflects years of dedication, care, and belief in the transformative power of creativity. This year, I chose to honor something deeply personal. I wore a vintage garment that my father, Alex, brought from India for my mother, Carmen, in the 90s. A piece filled with memory, movement, and love. Wearing it felt like carrying them with me through every step of the evening. Because it was them—my parents—who first brought me into museums, theaters, and symphonies. Who opened the doors to wonder. Who showed me, without even realizing it, that art is not just something we observe, but something we live through. It is because of that early exposure—those quiet, powerful moments—that I was able to become the artist and the person I am today. So while we celebrated the museum and its impact on our community, I was also celebrating them. Their love. Their vision. Their gift. Grateful for nights like these. Grateful for where it all began. 💫

We are pleased to welcome Daniel Djuro-Goiricelaya to Biolumina as part of our 2026 Special Projects program. Born in Venezuela and based in Pennsylvania, Daniel is an American interdisciplinary artist of Cuban and Russian descent whose multidisciplinary practice moves between painting, installation, and performance. His work is deeply connected to color, memory, emotion, and the transformative possibilities of play. During his time in Vieques, Daniel will develop new work while also engaging with the local community through a creative activity with students from Escuela Elemental Manuela Santiago Collazo. What a truly delightful and inspiring experience it was to be at this special @allentownsymphony event, celebrating new works by contemporary composers alongside members of the orchestra and a beautiful performance by @michaelktoday This evening was made even more meaningful by its setting at Resurrected Life Church—a space rich with history, where the Liberty Bell was once hidden. To gather there, surrounded by music and community, felt like a full-circle moment of past and present meeting through the arts. One of the highlights for me was the piece by @jorgeveraviolin , the current Musician-in-Residence at the Symphony. His work resonated deeply and stood as a powerful reminder of the importance of uplifting living composers and new voices. This concert also marks something larger—the continued commitment of the Symphony to activate “third spaces” throughout our community, bringing music beyond traditional venues and into shared, meaningful places where people can gather, reflect, and celebrate together. Grateful to be part of a community that continues to honor history while creating space for new stories to be heard.
