We’ve seen this before. Trump floated Venezuela statehood after the World Baseball Classic too. Still no action on DC, where 700,000 Americans have been waiting decades for equal representation in Congress.

The Supreme Court just gave a green light to those trying to rig maps and reduce the power of Black voters. DC residents still have NO VOTE in Congress.

The Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais raises a question DC residents know all too well: who gets a seat at the table, and who gets left out? We stand in solidarity with every community fighting for their voice to count.
Today, King Charles, the descendant of King George III, stood before Congress and invoked the founding principle that still applies to 700,000 Americans living in the nation’s capital: “no taxation without representation.”
250 years later, DC residents still have no vote in Congress. Make DC a state. Let DC Vote.

Since we’re talking about redrawing DC’s map, here’s our response to the Make DC Square Again Act. H.R. 51, the Washington DC Admission Act, would make DC the 51st state. The federal district shrinks to the essential government buildings: the Capitol, the White House, the Supreme Court, and federal buildings near the Mall. The rest, where 700,000 people actually live, becomes the State of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth, with two senators and a voting rep in Congress.
That’s the map worth passing.

If you live in Virginia, this one’s for you. Share this graphic and help us push back against the Make DC Square Act. Your neighbors deserve representation.

Make DC a square? How about make DC a state. DC’s 700,000 residents pay federal taxes and serve in the military — but have no vote in Congress. That needs to change.

We’re inviting neighbors, colleagues, and friends to support our broader national solidarity movement we are building across the United States. This campaign is deeply rooted in DC, so we had to bring it to you first!
Together For DC is a new campaign that is working to build a broad, steadfast national campaign that (1) mobilizes people nationwide in power-building solidarity with DC’s fight for autonomy and self-governance, (2) connects DC’s fight for autonomy to the shared fight against tyranny and authoritarian overreach, and (3) empowers people with the tools to take meaningful action to protect DC.
Folks should expect to leave with deeper knowledge of the Together For DC, and a clear understanding of how they can be involved in the campaign, plus some cool campaign swag.

ICYMI: On Wednesday, the House Appropriations Committee advanced a spending bill that threatens DC’s laws on reproductive rights, gender-affirming care, gun safety, police accountability, voting rights, and more.
DC has no voting representation in Congress. This is what that looks like.
