Last autumn Colm and Emily from our help desk team took part in a LIR digital skills workshop on the fundamentals of creating a podcast.
As part of this training, they submitted a final piece to the LIR Group for review with the top three receiving a

Colm and Emily took 2nd

Here's Colm taking part in a Q&A at the LIR Annual Seminar, discussing how he found the process and learnings from it.
Huge congratulations to both!
Last night, DCU Library was delighted to celebrate the launch of The Policeman’s Helmet Soup Journal, a new undergraduate open access journal developed in collaboration with the School of English.
The journal gives undergraduate students the chance to publish their work, build real experience in academic writing, and engage with the scholarly publishing process.
As an open access journal, their research can be shared and read far beyond the university community

The DCU exams might be over, but there’s another big exam on our minds this week… the Leaving Cert!
Over the past three days, we’ve welcomed sixth year students to our St. Patrick's campus for our Higher Level Leaving Cert Masterclasses in English, Maths & Irish.
A huge thank you to the brilliant Dave Rudden, Eoin O’Mahony and Aisling Sheerin for sharing their expertise and encouragement.
One piece of advice that really stood out? “You know more than you think you do.” A great reminder from Dave Rudden to trust the work you’ve already put in.
There’s still time for sixth year students to sign up for our Leaving Cert Study Scheme, running from May 11–June 23 Check the link in our bio for more info.
*NOW FULLY BOOKED*
Our London Lives by Christine Dwyer Hickey is DCU Book Club's pick this May!
Christine joins us as a special guest for an in conversation event at the Presidents Lounge, DCU Glasnevin Campus on Thursday, 21st May.
Our London Lives offers a rich and moving portrait of an ever-changing city, and a profound inquiry into character, loneliness and the nature of love. Following two Irish outsiders over the decades and interweaving their paths from time to time, often in one another’s sight, always on one another’s mind, yet rarely together.
Christine Dwyer Hickey was born in Dublin and is a novelist and short story writer. Her recent novel The Narrow Land won two major prizes: the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction and the inaugural Dalkey Literary Award. 2020 also saw her 2004 novel Tatty chosen for UNESCO's Dublin One City One Book promotion. Her work has been widely translated into European and Arabic languages. She is an elected member of Aosdana, the Irish Academy of Arts.
