The LDP Local Policies Plan Call For Sites consultation is now open for a 14 week period and accepting responses until 31st July 2026.
โ๐ฝ There are a number of upcoming drop in sessions where the LDP team will be available for advice on filling in the form and to answer queries

๐ญ New Tobacco & Vapes laws are coming to Northern Ireland.
The new legislation introduces new measures designed to create a smoke-free generation.
๐ From 29 October 2026:
โ๏ธ No sales of vapes or nicotine products to under 18s
โ๏ธ Proxy purchasing banned
โ๏ธ No free or discounted vape products
โ๏ธ Expanded vending machine restrictions
๐ From 1 January 2027:
โ๏ธ Tobacco sales prohibited to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009.
Further regulations may also be introduced in future, including retail licensing schemes and additional smoke-free spaces.
Derry City & Strabane District Council will continue to provide updates as new regulations are introduced.
