Remember in elementary school, my first grade teacher would seat me by myself because I talked too much in class. Jokes on her.
Remember in middle school, when they bullied me for being the smart black kid and I got ISS that one time for simply wanting to read my book in class. Jokes on them.
Remember in High School when Jennifer Moore didn’t think I could get into UNC. Jokes on her, I graduated high school with a 4.7 GPA.
Remember at UNC, I changed my major 5 times because I just could not get it together and I still managed to make the Dean’s List.
Remember at Appalachian, I went into my Masters program still unsure about my future career but I still came out with a 4.0.
And here we are. Liberty University. Graduating with a PhD in Educational Leadership with the highest distinction and a 4.0 GPA. One hundred and forty nine pages of writing a dissertation, an intense research process, and a rigorous defense presentation, while just trying to bring awareness to self-care needs and the psychological burdens of leading as a female. I have successfully joined the 4% of black females that hold a doctorate degree.
Just a kid from West End who turned her dreams into reality.
From Ms. to Mrs. to Dr. all in the same year. Conquering the world one day at a time 🌍
I say all this to say, God can blow your mind.
This is for you Uncle Leon.

Graduating college a year early was NEVER a part of the plan, but somehow here we are. B.S in Communication Sciences and Disorders major with a Special Education minor
This journey pushed me in ways I did not expect, challenged me to grow, and taught me more than I could have imagined both inside and outside of the classroom.
I am so grateful for every challenge, every lesson, and every person who supported me along the way. None of this happened alone, and I will always carry those memories with me.

My home away from home, you’ve taught me so much about myself and the world around me. I can’t thank you enough for the amazing friends you brought into my life, friends I’ve grown to consider family, and for the faculty and staff who were so patient and kind while guiding me through every hard moment.
To Western Carolina T&F, you’ve been what kept me going most days. Even on the days I questioned why I put myself through the hard parts, I loved every moment, and I wouldn’t trade these experiences for the world. Thank you.
To those who have loved me and continue to love me, I will never take for granted the love that has been poured into me. I am eternally grateful.
To my family, your sacrifices never went unnoticed. I know you’re proud now, but I can’t wait to make you even prouder as I continue into the next stages of my life.
