On the morning of April 14, my world stopped for a moment. My sister stood in front of me and told me she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I was devastated. I later learned she had been quietly going through exams and appointments for over six weeks before that day โ processing the unknown, being brave, and facing fears that most 32-year-olds never imagine having to face.
๐๐ฝ Thank you to the ๐ฃ๐ญ๐ข๐ค๐ฌ ๐ด๐ช๐ด๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ค๐ต๐ฐ๐ณ who advocated for her; who refused to let her age dismiss her symptoms and insisted on that biopsy that saved her life. Advocacy and representation matter. Period.
This journey has been a roller coaster โ one filled with sleepless nights, tears, prayers, and faith stronger than ever before. It brought back emotions from losing two cousins, ๐๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐, to this same disease. ๐ Rest in peace, beautiful angelsโฆyou are forever in my heart. #GoneButNeverForgotten
But today, I get to share something different โ something joyful. On ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐, ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐ซ๐๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ! ๐โจ๐After 3 surgeries, countless appointments, and 4 weeks of daily radiation, she is officially free of breast cancer.
Watching her smile againโฆ hearing her laugh againโฆ seeing her strength return has been the most beautiful gift.
To my #NonActiveOnSocialMedia sister - your courage, your grace, and your fight have inspired me more than words could ever say. You are a warrior. You are a survivor. You are my hero. ๐
And to every woman reading this: please donโt ignore your body. Advocate for yourself. Get your screenings. And if something doesnโt feel right โ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ค ๐ฎ๐ฉ.
