Playing a solo set tonight at 5pm and tomorrow at 5pm @thenightowlfullerton . Set tomorrow is for a 15 year anniversary showcase for The Night Owl which is crazy cause I think I’ve been going there and playing there for the last 13 years. But yeah! super stoked, If you’re around in OC come through!

Live version of Smiling is back up everywhere. I recorded this in Nashville a while ago. I like that I can still hear the cicadas in the background. That year there were two specific kinds. I think it was like the 7 year cicadas and 15 year cicadas and every ten years or something it lines up that they all surface. I’ve got 2 more songs The City and an instrumental called Water coming out Friday. Listening to the CORBO record right now I think it’s gonna get sent off for mixing and mastering today or tomorrow.
El Dorado Park/Sweet Darkness up now everywhere. El Dorado Park is a voice memo of me and my friend @rodharrison66 playing guitar and other instruments. Rod makes a lot of instruments converted from old guitars and I think I was playing one of his tenors or something like that. Rod was playing an old rubber bridge guitar he’d converted from a twelve string. The cover photo is an eagle Rod and I saw that day that just sort of magically disappeared and we’re still not really sure how. Rod and I will collect see glass on the beach from time to time and sometimes we’ll go see the birds in El Dorado. He’s been consistently going to see them for the last 30 years or so and they’ve all got names. I think we saw grouchy 2. CIA was gone cause CIA is usually missing. Sweet Darkness is a chop of that jam ran through my 404 and set to the poem Sweet Darkness by David Whyte.
Everything/Give is up now everywhere. I released Everything a while back and took it down a while back for whatever reason. It’s up now again along with a song called Give. They’re both songs I wrote and performed live on my 404 sampler. I’m starting to get a better idea of the delineation between music I put out under Danny Corbo and CORBO. Danny Corbo stuff I really want to be things that catch my interest. It’s a running diary of what I’m making in the moment, where I’m at when I made it and it’s kind of always been that way. The projects aren’t necessarily always the highest quality but they represent things that I’m interested in and stuff that I’m learning in real time. CORBO is based around a lot of collaboration. It’s much less isolated and represents something that I could not have made entirely on my own. I’ve been joking about it kind of being like Bon Iver/Big Thief lite and like it’s not lmao it’s just its own thing but it carries that spirit of collaboration. Thanks to @leeezart for the initial picture. I edited the raw file using an app Liz told me about called prequel. It’s an iPhone app that’s like $10 and for diy stuff it kind of rocks. I used it to edit the photo for a record I put out called Quiet Year and use it to edit most of my photos/videos and have found it to be quite useful and recommend to anyone doing diy projects. “Our Time Together is a Gift” is out today. I don’t know of another artist or person who would be willing to be this vulnerable in a project and create something with so much craft and emotion as Ashton has in these three songs. It’s spoken word, but I think of them as songs. There’s a living heartbeat in each of them and they all sing in their own way. This project is deeply meaningful and I hope ya’ll check it out.
