This is a creative project that was published in PERIOD magazine (web and print). I worked with my favorite art director Hans Koechling who came up with the concept and also did the styling with the help of Christina Louiso. MUA was done by the very talented Alexandre Deslauriers. Big THANK YOU to all the models who came in on a weekend for the shoot!Concept Design & Fashion Director Hans Koechling

This image was part of another demo I did for a fashion assignment I gave my students in the AEC Professional Photography Program at Dawson College. I basically showed them different light modifiers and how they create soft/hard light. I'll post more soon. Throwback Thursday! This is one of my earliest campaigns for Parasuco Jeans. Think it was done in the early 2000's. Big thank you to Sal Parasuco. He gave me my first campaigns. I did 2 others for him. Going to dig through my archives to find them. Lisa Sim was the MUA. Randy Smith was the stylist and Tuti Do was the marketing director.
I’m posting this one because this is was one of my most “nightmarish” shoots where everything went wrong!! The concept was to get the models “wet n’ wild” and I had 2 girls and 1 male model to shoot. All flown in from the states.
We shot in my studio where we constructed a sprinkler system to shower the models and a basin to catch and contain the water. Unfortunately the basin leaked and my studio has wood floors with wide cracks and the water rained down to the suite below. The business was a printing shop and the water damaged some of their equipment. The owners were obviously pissed and sued me for damages. Thank god for insurance.
We stopped shooting and moved the shoot to the Parasuco offices. The room we shot in had concrete floors so it was easy to mop up if water got out of the basin.
The shoot started to move along and we were getting the job done when all of a sudden the 2 girl models started to yell at each other. I don’t know what happened or what was said but the girls were really going at it and were becoming physical. We split them apart and tried to calm things down… in the end the girls refused to work together and I could only shoot them separately. This really messed up our concept since we had a ton of duos to do and since we had a set amount of garments to shoot, this doubled the amount of shots!
Anyhow, we got through the shoot exhausted and when it was time to present the images to the client, the reaction was very muted. The client was not crazy about the result at all. To be honest, I wasn’t surprised. That shoot was cursed from the start and I wasn’t happy with it either.
I created this post mostly for my students to let them know that you should know that not every one of your shoots will be stellar but you have to learn to move on and do better on the next one and be better prepared.... #fashio
