It is not too early to start thinking about your 2026-2027 contest entries. The Junior American Citizens contest is pleased to announce the annual contest theme, which honors the 140th anniversary of the dedication of the Statue of Liberty and invites students to learn more, get creative, and show their skills.

Thank you to everyone who supported the annual USS DC Tea, as committee members, volunteers at the silent auction and registration table, speakers, table hosts, and more! We couldn't do it without you.

Earlier this month, DCDAR hosted the Second Annual USS District of Columbia Committee Tea in honor of the first U.S. Navy vessel to be named for the District and the lead boat in the upcoming Columbia Class of ballistic missile submarines. The committee is working on a project to commission a set of presentation silver, a time-honored U.S. naval tradition, to go aboard the submarine for the life of its service. We are also engaged in projects throughout the year to support SSBN-826’s crew. Captain Heath Johnmeyer was the keynote speaker for the event, and spoke about how the project carries forward the memories of our Revolutionary War Patriots. We are honored to play a role in this lasting legacy and are grateful for the opportunity to support our submariners! Many thanks to all who attended in support of this endeavor.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our art workshop and auction benefiting the Liser State Regents Project. We had a fun time getting creative with our painted paper hummingbirds and taking home some new art pieces!

Be sure to join us at our last Application Office Hours of the Liser administration to get your application, or supplemental, submitted in time for America 250 celebrations this July! These office hours are great chances to connect with chapters, spend dedicated time in a world class genealogy library, and an opportunity to be in our beautiful space.
