Our solidarity is our power: Join us to urge City Council to VOTE NO ON INTRO. 303! DC 37 and our allies will gather at the intersection of Broadway and Murray to support unionized home care workers from Local 389 Home Care Employees in the fight against Intro. 303, which would ban the shifts they rely on for their collectively bargaining wages, health care, and retirement benefits. Grab your DC 37 shirt and point your smartphone to the link in our bio to send a letter to the City Council explaining why 24-hour shifts are essential to the unionized home care workers who fulfill the needs of disabled New Yorkers and the patients themselves. RSVP at bit.ly/4eEhoK via the link in bio - our union siblings are counting on us!

Local 299 Recreational Specialists welcome enhanced job protections and disciplinary rights as newly designated non-competitive employees. The title previously struggled with recruitment and retention and took measures to grow the number of workers. DC 37 members turned out for the May Day Rally and March with the New York City Central Labor Council, the New York Immigration Coalition, our fellow unions and community members from across the city to commemorate International Workers' Day. The Green Machine chanted “UNION POWER!” from Washington Square Park down to Foley Square. This May Day, it is more important than ever to make our voices heard, stand together, and build coalitions. In cities across the United States, we are united in our demand for worker protections and economic justice. We will not be silent while working people are under attack!

State lawmakers are still negotiating the budget, and our advocacy to lower the Tier 6 contribution rate to 3% is working. But we need your help to get it over the finish line. Calling our state lawmakers is one of the most effective ways to influence policy. We need your help to contact Senate Finance Chair Liz Krueger, Assembly Ways & Means Chair Gary Pretlow and Gov. Hochul to say: Fix Tier 6! Fill out the form in our link in bio or bit.ly/4tig15X to receive an automated callback and be connected to the elected official's office to deliver your message. Don't worry, we'll provide you with a simple script you can follow or make your own. #FixTier6 #UnionStrong #thisiswhatdemocracylookslike

In this issue of PEPTalk: Unsafe wiring behind computers, a rusty eyewash sink, and a leaky roof at the NYC Department of Transportation Central Shop in Maspeth pushed several union locals to band together with the union's Safety & Health department. Due to their collective and sustained advocacy, the workers now have an updated, clean, and safe facility. Go to bit.ly/4b45gNX or visit the link in our bio to learn how they improved conditions at their facility.
