From the start of April, we were proud to support Sefton Council on Cristal Palace, transforming Southport Town Hall Gardens into a stunning open-air performance space.
Working alongside Transe Express, we delivered full production across audio, lighting and staging. With a challenging site layout stretching beyond the main performance area, our Sound Designer Danny Clare created a system that delivered consistent coverage across the entire space, right down the street, while also integrating audio to the chandelier above.
Lighting stayed true to the creative vision while moving entirely to LED, supporting sustainability goals and unlocking a richer, more vibrant look for the show.
Delivered by a team of 15, led by Chris Bogg, with lighting headed up by Dale Land and audio by Danny Clare, alongside a brilliant wider crew and staging support from Lee “Spike” Brooks and team.
Like many outdoor productions, the weather had the final say. Despite a strong dress rehearsal, both public shows were unfortunately cancelled due to high winds. A frustrating outcome, but the right call with safety front of mind.

This week we put our team members & freelancers through their paces with Festival Patch Training, led by patch Veteran James.
Designed to mirror the reality of a busy show day, the session included all the classic curveballs — from “oh, you’ve got the old rider” to the inevitable “we thought we would just use the house backline instead”
The training focused on how to design and run a festival patch with speed and efficiency, adapt to constant changes throughout the day, and confidently handle last-minute additions to the lineup.
Alongside this, the team developed key skills in fault finding, problem solving, and managing clear, accurate paperwork. The afternoon session concluded in a practical line check and layout of a festival stage together with guest engineers and backline techs.
It’s a hands-on reminder that great patching isn’t just about plugging things in — it’s about planning, communication, and staying one step ahead to keep a busy stage running smoothly.

We’re pleased to have recently delivered a brand new sound system for the Amanda Roocroft Theatre at Runshaw College 🎭
With a long-standing relationship with the venue, we were the natural choice to support the design and supply of the new system—having originally installed the previous solution some years ago. It was great to be invited back by venue technician Matt Moss, working alongside dBS Solutions Director Chris Bogg, to take the next step in the theatre’s audio upgrade.
The system is built around a @MartinAudio CDD setup, utilising CDD10 loudspeakers in landscape frames. These were carefully deployed from existing lighting bars to maximise trim height within the studio theatre.
“The differential dispersion of the CDD range made it the ideal solution when mapping the system in Martin Audio’s prediction software,” explains Chris. “With the venue’s steep bleacher seating, achieving consistent vertical coverage was key and CDD delivered exactly what was needed.”
The system is powered via Martin Audio DX4.0 processing, integrating seamlessly with the venue’s existing amplification and sub infrastructure. Following the initial results, there are already plans in place to further enhance the system with upgraded subs and additional fills.
