With so many projects underway this year (@risingappalachia , @elephantrevival@leahsongmusic@bonniepainemusic , @williamhmacy etc etc), I probably haven’t done a great job at saying how excited I am to be returning to my hometown of Asheville to kick off a tour w Natalie Spears at Ayurprana. I’d so love to a room full of familiar faces as I present some original songs and share the beauty I’ve been conjuring with her. If you’ve been thinking about buying a ticket, here’s your reminder. And if you can do me a favor and spread the word, please! Huge thanks for supporting and following the journey, see you down the road ~

Last week I received a sweet bit of writing from a friend who’s known me since I was just a twelve year old boy dwarved by his electric guitar. It’s a gift to be seen through my many musical iterations - from my grunge era to my new grass era, and now beyond. Up next is Ayurprana in Asheville next Friday, and then north to DC, Baltimore and beyond...
**Just added** We’re having an after party at this Saturday’s album release show at the @foxtheatreco . DJ Castanea @dbrising (David Brown of Rising Appalachia) will be DJing from 11pm- 1230am. Suggested donation $10 that you can pay at the merch booth after my set.
There is a low ticket alert for the show, so get your tickets before it’s sold out. Please make sure you are purchasing tickets directly from the Fox Theatre or my website to ensure legitimate ticket purchases.

🌱🌳 The American Chestnut (Castanea Dentata) were once mighty & prolific trees covering eastern US. They were decimated by a blight in the early 1900s & efforts to conserve & propogate blight resistant trees continue here in the heart of Appalachia.
hey friends, happy earth day 🌱
these castanea sweatshirts are finally dropping into the world today - with artwork by @houseofarulu
castanea is the name i dj and produce under, and also that of the chestnut tree, once a giant of the eastern forests
each one sends $5 to American Chestnut Foundation - a small gesture toward bringing them back
past and future tangled together in the roots
would love to see you wearing them

One of my favorite collaborations of the past year or two has been with my dear friend, the wonderful Natalie Spears. For the past couple of years we’ve been spending many evenings teasing out the confluence of our voices and instruments, and our shared love of folk music, Wendell Berry poems, and alternate banjo tunings. We’ll be taking our little duo pretty far and wide this summer, with shows across Colorado and up and down the East coast. First stop will be in @achurchsalida on 4/11, followed by a slew of house concerts, @ayurpranalisteningroom in Asheville, @baltimoreoldtime , @manormillmonkton and several others. Hope to see and serenade you soooon~
I am so moved to see my music used for the stunning choreography and cinematography of @earthbased.media in their latest film, Mujeres de la Piedras. A couple years ago, @jadeeyemoon performed with me at a Beats Antique show and asked if she could choreograph a dance to my yet unreleased song with @chloesmith007 , Fire Meets the Morning. Of course I said yes, and in the following months, her partner in Earth Based Media @summit.earth helped me mix it down. So many beautiful layers of collaboration here. Thank you Jade and Summit for choosing my music and put it in such a beautiful setting, and to all the mujeres ❤️🔥
