It's finally out!! We put a lot of passion into this and I think its evident. Every emotion is hit on this thing. And everyone's performances are *chef's kiss*. WOW my first PASIC experience was truly amazing. I feel so lucky that I got to perform with the All-Star Percussion Ensemble and work closely with like-minded musicians, learn from many of my heroes, and premiere some amazing pieces that I believe will become popular. In the times I wasn't rehearsing, I got to see some amazing things at this convention, including evening concerts from the Michel Camilo trio, Third Coast Percussion, and Nate Smith+Kinfolk, as well as numerous clinics and masterclasses. 📷: @blaketyson and @monicatobar_ #pasic2019
Last Saturday, I did my junior recital, and it was one of the coolest experiences ever! My friend @noah_nerdmuffin25 hooked me up with a beautiful light show that made it a nice aural/visual experience. I feel so lucky to be able to play great music with great people all the time. This piece is kicking my butt! However, so far, this piece has been very exciting to try to learn. It is long, dense, choppy, awkward, and without a doubt the most challenging piece I've taken on. The crazy thing about this piece is that no matter how incredibly difficult and frustrating it is to learn, it feels totally worth it. It's been a goal for me ever since freshman year, and not to mention, it is beautiful and profound. #marimba #schwantner #practice
I had a great time this weekend competing at the Great Plains International Marimba Competition! I got to take part in a masterclass with Pius Cheung, and I got great pointers from him, Brian Zator, and David Steffens. I didn't make it into the final round, but I still had a great experience, and I still have many more years to do it!
