It is official: “Costume Art” will be the Spring 2026 exhibition at the Costume Institute, unveiled following the 2026 MET Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibition will inaugurate the new Condé M. Nast Galleries, a nearly 12,000-square-meter space adjacent to the Museum’s Great Hall.
“It is a major moment for the Costume Institute,” said curator Andrew Bolton, noting that the new space will be transformative not only for the department, but also for the recognition of fashion within an art museum context.
