For 10 years, Hope for Harvest has been my church, moving in a spirit rooted in what Pastor Barbara left behind. In that time, I’ve been living and learning, and unlearning too. I’ve been held accountable, taught valuable lessons, and learning to forgive myself, for what others said, what they did, and most of all, what they didn’t do.
I’m always grateful to move and work in ways I once dreamed of, while still knowing I desire more. I’m living off my nana’s prayers, sometimes questioning them, but deep down knowing this life is covered by them.
I reflect on all I’ve been blessed to be a part of, even when I feel far from where I want to be.
Next season requires more, more focus, new relationships, and the discipline to let go of anything that brings emotional or potential physical harm.

A much-needed memory popped up on my Facebook today, my great-grandmother, Louverna Brumfield Moses. She’s the real reason my love for community runs so deep. It wasn’t something I picked up out of nowhere; I was born into it and covered by it.

This marks the fifth birthday since I’ve been able to tell you those words in person and for some reason, this year feels especially heavy. But along with the sadness, I feel an even stronger desire to celebrate your life and legacy.
