🫀To think, 3 and half months ago I had open-heart surgery!

Without getting too deep into the world of medical Heart jargon, I was born with a faulty Aortic Valve. It restricted blood flow from my Heart to my Body and the result? A Heart that worked double shifts to maintain a blood flow comparable to that of the average human Heart. Growing up, I couldn’t comprehend the toll it was taking on my body: simmering chest pains, overwhelming fatigue, shortness of breath, brain fog. I was under the impression this was all part of the human experience. AND IT’S NOT?!?! It wasn’t until my cardiologist made it clear a surgery was imminent, that I realized my symptoms felt more extreme than what my homies were facing.
So for the last 3 decades, my doctors have been mentally preparing me for the operating table I was to make my debut on. Then, on one unassuming day, I got the call. My Cardiologist noticed an Aneurysm develop at my Aortic Root. (Pom pom PPOOOOOOOOM)
A day prophesied by the doctors of my youth. A day that presented itself as a distant fever dream, became a part of my immediate reality. And the cure??? A surgery that replaces my faulty, lesser, unimpressive biological Aortic Valve with a far superior, hearty (hehe), state-of-the-art Mechanical Valve. And a graft to patch up that pesky lil Aneurysm, a nuisance, really.
Now, here I am. 3.5 veeeeeeery slow months later. Reborn, with a heartbeat that clicks. After 2 separate weekish-long visits at the hospital. I am Recovering. Reflecting. Reintegrating into society.

My Gear 5 is going to look a different than how I had imagined. But I’m still gonna to get there 😏

Years of chronic pain, a surgery on my left hip, and after 6 months of recovery, I can finally Break without the limitation of pain. So I am.
In June 2022 I got surgery for an impingement that was tearing the labrum on my left hip. It was an arthroscopy that shaved my bone to its regular shape and then repairing the labrum.
Since the surgery, my goal with Breaking has been to regain fluency in my movement, expand my footwork vocabulary, get back the power and foundations that I lost, and to make Top 16 in local comps. (Made it 3 times now and top 8 once 💪🏽)
