Dawn Reader (
@dawn_reader ) will be demonstrating a Chinoiserie style of decorative painting that can be applied directly to walls and other hard surfaces
Having completed an MA at Chelsea College of Art in 1991, and exhibiting since 1989, Iâve been painting professionally for high end interior design companies worldwide for over 30 years. My work is predominantly in private residencies, castles, chateaux and hotels. (Due to NDAs I canât say where!)
I paint in every medium and have a fluid style so I can hopefully meet every clientâs brief.
Iâm thrilled to be invited this year to take part in âRestoration and Revival - elevation of the hand crafted surfaceâ during
@londoncraftweek at the stunning
@paintershalllondon .
Demonstrations will be
Thursday 14th May 2-5pm, Friday 15th & Saturday 16th May 10am-5pm
This yearâs event will be a series of demonstrations and talks that showcase the expertise and professional experience of our members across the whole spectrum of craft, decoration and restoration - pigment making, wood graining, marbling and trompe lâoeil, fine-art picture framing, gilding, chinoiserie, japanning, gilded botanical art, wallpaper and lincrusta restoration, stencilling, calligraphy, illumination, painting conservation and painted cloth - the original, medieval technique of âstainingâ, from which the Company derives its name.
Our event will be complemented by a panel discussion on Saturday 16th at 2pm with our very own Lucia Scalisi, Gerry Alabone, Paul Humphreys and Stephen Levrant debating the art and challenge of conservation / restoration.
