DanceAfrica Chicago 2023, revived by Muntu Dance Theatre, celebrated African and African American dance with a "Lineage" concert featuring Muntu, Najwa Dance Corps, M.A.D.D. Rhythms, and Afriky Lolo at the Logan Center for the Arts in August, alongside workshops and a marketplace, showcasing heritage and connection to the broader African Diaspora festival tradition. The event highlighted traditional and contemporary styles, linking tap's origins to African roots, and was part of a vibrant summer of dance in Chicago.
