What a great ending to a beautiful day of the Okoboji Blue Water Festival to have Jakob Dylan and The Wallflowers close out the evening in the green space amphitheater of Preservation Plaza. Thank you Greg and Julie for putting on another tremendous event.
Well there was a huge crowd assembling for the 50th Anniversary of Head East but then the downpour. Most people left, but those who stayed had an incredible show! Arnolds Park Amusement Park Arnolds Park Preservation Plaza
Every generation at the lakes for the last 50 years has enjoyed Head East at the Roof Garden or green space, along with maybe a few extra ingredients thrown in. We had some good fun altering the Arnolds Park marquee sign before the concert in circa 1979ish. Great music, great fun times.
Well, after sailing 7000 miles with Mark Synnott over the past 3 years from the Arctic’s Northwest Passage to the Pacific’s French Polynesia, my marathon has come to a close. Mark and his family will continue to enjoy the South Pacific islands as they slowly work towards New Zealand on their circumnavigation. I will meet Polar Sun again in the future for more sailing and adventures but for now this happy but exhausted sailor is heading home. Thank you 🙏 Mark, Hampton and Tommy and fair breezes to you.
Just after midnight Polar Sun crept into the harbor in the dark, assembled our anchor and dropped the hook at 12:15 am to complete our Pacific crossing. This morning we already had boat friends stop by to visit. Now ready to explore the islands. Cheers 🍻 Mark Synnott

We hit another doldrums south of the equator and it stifling hot (personal hygiene is suffering) with no air but hey, good sunsets! We’re 500 miles from the Marquesas Islands. Helping young photographer Tommy Synnott w his photo skills Need some breeze!!
We had a fun little celebration on board Polar Sun when we crossed the Equator to honor King Neptune. Some Polywogs became Shellbacks. This is my 4th crossing of the Equator. We had a great day together. Cheers 🍻!!
Just crossed the equator at 0653 this morning. Had a brief blurry eyed celebration n an ode to King Neptune and we’re going to have a little party this afternoon. Great sailing now. Both the King and DT are very happy. Cheers!! 🍻
