One week ago today, everything changed with the call of an active shooter at Brown University, marking one of the most horrific acts of violence in our city’s history.
While the nation watched press briefings and updates, our team worked nonstop behind the scenes to gather, confirm, and share information as quickly as possible.
In my nine years working for the City of Providence, I have never experienced a week like this one. At a certain point, it felt important to pause and capture a few moments of what that work actually looked like behind the scenes, especially leading up to the last moments. No photo can fully describe what it felt like in real time, but I hope these images help give a sense of the gravity of the moment.
It’s been a tough 24 hours for Providence after the horrifying tragedy at Brown University. We push forward to share accurate information quickly, but the heaviness of this all is very real. Thinking of the victims, their families, and everyone impacted.
Just another day at the office with @pvdmayor , helping @nbc10wjar capture audio. It’s always a pleasure working with our local reporters to bring important stories to life.
