Over the past four years, I’ve heard from far too many parents in the ACT about how our local health system struggles to care for children with cancer.
And tragically, how it also struggles to provide palliative care for children.
These are difficult conversations, but we have to ask ourselves, is our health care system really working if it can’t support sick children?
I’ll keep talking with my colleagues about this at both the local and federal level.
Australians should know who has privileged access to Parliament House - The People's House.
Labor, Liberals, Nationals and Greens voted against a motion to ensure I can continue to ask questions about sponsored passes during Senate Inquiries 🤯😂

Everyday 19 women will be diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer (incl. ovarian cancer, the deadliest cancer for Australian women).
I was proud to support a proposal for $70m to supercharge research & provide better support.
The budget included extra $$ for medical research, but not this specific request.
There are lots of good ideas to fund, & I’m certain that developing a Budget is not easy, but this one seems pretty important to me.
Will keep pushing for funding to find its way to gynaecological cancer research.
Despite the propaganda from the gas industry, the budget says revenue from PRRT (tax on offshore gas) will go down while beer excise keeps going up.
And the projected increase in PRRT may not even happen - the actual revenue seems to often be less than the projections 🤦♂️
Initial thoughts coming out of the budget lock-up.

I understand that there are hard decisions to make in government and things are seldom simple. But surely it’s not too much to ask for our government to put Australians ahead of vested interests?
I’ll continue to work with the crossbench to ensure parliament delivers reforms that protect young Australians and better set us up for the future.

David Attenborough is someone so many of us grew up watching and learning from. Him and the amazing teams he worked with brought the incredible beauty , complexity and power of nature into our living rooms. His documentaries inspired awe, taught us about the interconnectedness of the world we live in and left us with a better understanding of so many different places and species.
Like so many people, I grew up on his docos. Asked at a press conference before the 2015 Rugby World Cup Final in London who I’d like to invite I replied, ‘David Attenborough’. His daughter actually got in touch saying unfortunately he was away and couldn’t make it. A few years later I got to meet him and asked him about his time in PNG - he lit up and talked about how incredible it was, detailing some of his fondest memories there. His love of nature was so evident and inspiring. We have so much to gain from a deeper connection to the world around us. Thank you for inspiring so many of us.
Happy 100th Birthday, Sir David Attenborough.
Now more than ever we need to be treating housing as something we want to be affordable and accessible, not an investment vehicle for wealth creation.
We live in one of the wealthiest country in the world and every Australian should have a safe and affordable home.
I’ve been pushing sensible reform to CGT & negative gearing since before I was elected.
It won’t solve all our housing problems but it will help alongside more investment in public, social & affordable housing & homelessness, a sensible look at immigration & population & longer term planning.
The major parties want to make ASIO’s extraordinary questioning powers permanent, including powers used on children as young as 14. Refuse to answer and you can end up in prison for up to 5 years.
This is alarming. Contact your federal senators and call on them to remove powers to question children and retain oversight over powers to question adults.
