The Call was written by Tina Kopa as a part of From the Mouth, a music/film project about the mouth of the Kororoit Creek. It is a response to the amazing natural beauty that lies largely hidden within a stones throw of the nearby legacy petrochemical facilities.
From the Mouth was funded by Hobsons Bay City Council as a part of the Make it Happen Grants. THE CALL
What’s the destination?
Does someone know the way?
We’re on a train going nowhere
Playing the same old game
We bought the ticket
We took the ride
Watched it all pass us by
Feigned we didn’t know
Is this the last call?
Is this the last stand?
Before it all falls.
Love doesn’t know fighting
Love doesn’t cheat or lie
No dividing
Love needs no applause
Loves an open door
And there’s always more.
Always more.
Look what happened when we..
made ourselves the boss
Set out all the rules
Claimed our territories
Passed down our tragedies and glories
We lost our way
How we compromise
Bludgeon and brutalise
In the name of God and country
Is this the last call ?
Is this the last stand?
Before it all falls.
Love doesn’t know fighting
Love doesn’t cheat or lie
No dividing
Love needs no applause
Loves an open door
And there’s always more.
Always more

Tank to Shallows - the second of four films as a part of From the Mouth. A music/film project based from the mouth of the Kororoit Creek. Funded by Hobsons Bay City Council and made by seven local artists.

Tank to Shallows is basically one shot. It starts looking directly into a gigantic, abandoned oil storage tank, and then moves across a wasteland to the shadow of a recently demolished sister tank whose remains are being sorted by a 30 ton excavator.
Crossing the Kororoit river, it moves into another world. A natural world.
Mangroves, saltbush, salt pans, tea tree, beach, seagrass, pelicans, swans, gulls; they all make sublime and gentle appearances through sparkling, rippled light.
It’s a journey from the decaying world of fossil fuel, to a nearby one of thriving wetland life. Remanent, surviving, and so close.
All the while, the sublime music tracks these changes, creating an emotional framework for the camera’s journey. For your journey.
And finally it is just sand, sea and light: a meditation.

MicroSonic by Kate Hunter and Jem Savage at the Dear Agnes show, where you will learn that we are only as small as the next smallest, and how time might be like for ants. Lovely gentle work with strangely deep vessels and soothing words from Fiona Roake.

Dylan Martorelli’s work at the Dear Agnes show today ( @dylanmartorelll@_dear_agnes ) today and next weekend. So much fun to walk into this forest of mini solar panels, alligator clips, motors, cable ties, sticks, stands, and cans playing sun powered percussion of chimes, bonks, conks, beats and scrapes. Do yourselves a favour peeps and get amongst it….lots of other cool stuff too.

You were always there for me mum, always. Thanks for everything, you were a true beauty in every way. I loved your cooking, the way you hummed, your laugh, and the way you loved my boys. Go well, and give dad a hug from me. Xxx
Some Kororoit Creek legendary locals, John O’Hagan and Bart Willoughby (@ohagan932 and @bartwilloughbybandwilloughby ), looking sharp and sounding sensual.
