This was my first time raising monarchs and it was quite a journey. It was especially fun to share with my 3 year old daughter.
The print is available on my website. Link in bio.
Monarchs are in decline and are now on a bunch of endangered lists. I was surprised to learn that the caterpillars really only need milkweed to survive. I always thought of milkweed as just a weed to be pulled, but now I realize how magical this plant is, and so vital to the monarchs. So I’ll be planting milkweed next year. You can do the same if you want to help the little guys :)

This is based on a true story. I wanted to take a simple picture of Hamlin, and was surprised when it didn’t go as planned.
My wife, Joy, and I wrote the story together. She often helps me with captions and video scripts. She’s a therapist, so she brings a lot of ideas with heart :)
I feel like this is a children’s book, in video format. I get a lot of requests for a children’s book, and Joy and I are working on one, but it will be a while before it’s finished. So hopefully this scratches that itch for the moment.
Becorn calendars are still available. Beware of scammers selling bootleg copies. They run ads using my content so it’s hard to know they’re fake. Official calendars are only available at . (Or Just Calendars in Australia.)
If you’re local to Rhode Island, come to the Foundry Holiday Art Show/sale! I have a booth set up with prints and videos on display, and I’m selling calendars, prints, and cards. The show runs today through Sunday, and next weekend, Dec 13-15th. I’ll be there in person this Sunday 12-8 from 12-3. Come say hi!
I built the Jon Jon brothers to carry a carrot, and I was hoping they would feed a rabbit. I haven’t been able to get that picture, but the Jon Jon brothers have found their way into lots of other scenes. I like them because whatever they’re carrying, it always suggests a story.
“GoGo, former Chief of the Grain Guard, had no regrets.”
Of all I my pictures, I get the most questions about how I took this one. It was so lucky!
I forgot to focus the video camera, so the footage is a bit blurry. Oops. At least the still photo is (mostly) in focus :)
A few of my favorite Becorn moments from 2025. I’m humbled that people continue to enjoy my work. Your support makes it possible for me to continue, and I’m so grateful. I wish you all a 2026 filled with wonder.
This is part two of Whimble’s story. Part One left him on a low, so I’m happy to share this story of his redemption :)
Becorn Calendars are available on my website! Link in bio.
I’ve gotten a lot of requests for a picture book. I hope this scratches the itch for now. A book is in the works, and I’ll be excited to share it when it’s ready!
I kept a safe distance from these birds at all times. The photos with Whimble and the birds were made by combining photos of just the birds with photos of Whimble after the birds left the nest.
The 2026 Becorn calendar is available now! It features Whimble and the sweet baby chipmunk. Link in bio :)
This is Part 1 of Whimble’s Story. I like to make these Becorn videos uplifting, so I really struggled editing this one. I wanted to show Whimble’s resilience in the face of his troubles, but I couldn’t figure out how, so I shelved the footage. It wasn’t until a year later that Whimble had a redemptive moment. That’s in Part 2, coming later this week :)
Becorn Calendars are still available on my website. Link in bio. I will probably sell out this year, so don’t wait!
I consider it a victory that I didn’t get stung during this project :)
Fun fact, Becorns are impervious to bee stings because their bark and shells are too hard. But still, they aren’t entirely safe. Yellow jackets have power mandibles that they use to chew wood into pulp for their hives. Watch out, little Becorns!

My last three posts have all had flowers because after years of trying, I finally figured out a good way to build flower people. I made a video about my learning process. You can watch it on my YouTube channel. It’s called “Becorns Episode 5, Building With Flowers Is Hard.” Link in bio.
Happy Halloween everyone! This was a fun one. I almost didn’t get to do it because the frost killed my dahlias, but then I found a farm with some survivors :)
Becorn calendars are available on my website! Link in bio.
Happy Fall everyone! I felt a bit bad cutting this would-be pumpkin off the vine, but it was for the best. The vine has since been attacked by a bad case of powdery mildew.
If you want to see more flower people, watch my new YouTube video! Link in bio.
