Willem Dafoe most people know him from Spider Man, he has made over one hundred movies, bringing versatility, boldness and daring to some of the most iconic films of our time… but he got his start in theater at the University of Wisconsin but left to join “Theatre X” an experimental Wisconsin based theater troop, with which Dafoe toured for four years in 1977 he moved to New York City and joined the the “performance group “ and that’s just the beginning… I was fortunate to photograph Willem in Robert Wilson’s “The Life And Death of Marina Abramovic” … Robert Wilson writes”At the intersection of theater, opera and visual art, Robert Wilson’s reimagining of performance artist Marina Abramović’s extraordinary life and work begins with her difficult childhood in former Yugoslavia, and chronicles her journey to the present day. Abramović, who plays herself as well as her imposing mother, is joined by world-renowned actor Willem Dafoe and singer Antony, performing original music and songs created for this ‘quasi opera.’”

… while passing through the Preston Square Mall in Ottawa last night I came across an exhibition of amazing photos put on by the @spaocentre “photo walk” there was a piece by an artist featuring what I would call live band portraits of the band Sloan and I LOVED THEM …( Emily was the photographer I think I wish I could remember her full name ) I think it subconsciously inspired me to shoot the above .. ☀️❤️☀️ my little “rock stars” as my bro Tim would say… #spao #ottawa #ottawatourism
