Blain Exhibition Highlight: David Eichelberger (
@davideich )
David Eichelberger was born in Roanoke, Virginia, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. While in college at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, David was introduced to functional ceramics. In-depth study, drawing from a range of instructors and influences, earned him a B.F.A. Degree in 2000, followed by his M.F.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, in 2010.
David makes ceramic objects with a functional sentiment and a sculptural approach to form, and his work has been shown extensively throughout the states.
While continuing his personal practice, David also runs Two|One Ceramics (
@twooneceramics ) with his wife, artist Elisa Di Feo, as a way to bring their sensibilities of one-of-a-kind, hand-made tableware into the arena of contemporary ceramic design. Elisa and David develop prototypes and small-scale production techniques to suit their work. Every step of their process starts from scratch, with raw materials and big ideas. Their extensive backgrounds in the field of contemporary American art ceramics gives Elisa and David the perfect starting point for making home wares that suit a desire for stylish, unique, and thoughtful functional ceramics.
Check out David’s work in the “The Utilitarian Clay Symposium’s Celebrate the Object: Presenters and Invited Artists Exhibition” in the Sandra J. Blain Galleries, open through November 26, 2025. #arrowmont
