Everything is Free - Gillian Welch I remember this song finding me at a somewhat pivotal point in my life. I was working 3 jobs at the time and could still hardly make ends meet. There’s a lot of wisdom in these lyrics, and a big thank you to @sylvanesso for bringing it to my attention.

Song by AJJ This is one that really brings me back to adolescence. I have very fond memories of spending most of my free time with neighborhood friends. We would spend a lot of time at the creek, shooting at each other with air soft guns. I’m not sure how many kids are able to grow up like that anymore.

Clay Pigeons I was driving around the other day when John Prine’s version of this song came up on my shuffle. The weight of it hit me like a truck, my tears just started pouring. Such a beautiful tune, and I’m glad to have finally taken the time to get it in my fingers and sit with it. Hope y’all enjoy it.

An account of the mania before the weight of reality came crashing back down Act II of the 2016 year archives is a navigation through the fog that eventually landed me in a psych ward. It’s a reflection on the moments when my ego finally met its match in the stark reality of a mental health crisis. This is what I remember, from feeling like the master of the universe, to being a de facto phone operator in a loony bin. A link to the full story on Substack, in my bio ✍️

Peaks and Streams. A look back at the year that broke me open. This is Act I of a three-part series. Just the start of a long process of uncovering some stories that I’ve kept close for a decade. Looking back at a different skin to see the spark that stayed lit through it all Full dispatch is live at the Substack link in my bio ✍️
