Today we said farewell to a great man. My grandfather. He was a man of great strength and wisdom but also a man that gave so much love and tenderness to his family. He provided us with a home in Australia. He provided security and affection. I wouldn’t be able to have chased my dreams so freely if it weren’t for my Deda moving here. With only a couple hundred bucks in his pocket, he made the very bold decision in 1970 with my grandmother and mother to leave his family and home behind for a chance at a better and more fulfilling life. Little did he know (or perhaps not) that he would have protected us all from war years later. I will forever be grateful for that. I will miss his sense of humour. He loved making people laugh and smiled all the way to his end. But one thing I will carry with me was his wisdom. He had experienced a lot of hardships throughout his life and still held his head high with positive an outlook on life. I can only hope to follow his example that he had set by being bold and facing life’s challenges fearlessly and with a smile. Thank you for everything Deda. You can rest now. We got this. Love you always and forever. Rest In Peace. ❤️
