After two blizzards postponed my talk with Rick Moody at Newtonville Books, it's finally happening this Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 4 pm.
I'll read a little, and then Rick and I will talk. Come by and hang out with us!

“But this is the Midwest, a Midwest of a certain texture, where many things discussed intimately and publicly alike on the Coasts do not exist because there’s no language for them here to make them real.”
🎂 Don’t miss David Ryan’s (@david_wryan ) stunning short story, “Birthday,” in The Bulb Region today.

Unpacking from this past week's @treefortfest —my first time out. I didn't take many photos—I was too busy taking it in. But I'm so grateful to have been there, to meet these people I admire and to find so many new folks I now admire. Thanks to @sugarcainberman & @max.schwartz and all the others who made this happen with such energy and style. And holy cow Boise, ID is gorgeous. One of the best times of my life.
Thanks to @heychrisboucher , guest editor of West Branch Wired, who included my little weirdo, “And Now You See Me Here” in the latest issue, out just now.

Huge thanks to @adroitjournal for publishing my piece, “Parachutes”, in the new issue, out today.
The piece lives there among some amazing writers.

No words for how much Rick Moody has meant to my life—reading, writing, and otherwise. And I'm honored to sit and talk with him on February 22 in Boston/Newton at @newtonville_books .
@emmakaiburger wrote a wildly thoughtful review of ALLIGATOR through a deep read into one of its weirdest stories, "The Zoological Gardens". Check it out and send her some praise.
