In 2008 I was asked to go to New York to help produce a new reality competition show on Broadway. As a theater kid that had never been to the Big Apple, I instantly said yes, and when I found out what it was about, I was even more excited. We were doing a competition show to find the new lead in Legally Blonde on Broadway. It was a competition of the best of the best and it was phenomenal to be a part of it. Getting a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes on Broadway is quite a treat.
If you’re not familiar, pretty much every single actor on that stage is a pro athlete. The stuff I watched them do and train and learn and build was phenomenal. I could’ve never accomplished what they did and it was fantastic to be a part of it. It was positive the whole way through and it was so cool to see all of the contestant support for each other instead of try to belittle or trash the other. It was 100% support the whole way through and I made this music video in honor of it.
At the time I was friends with the amazing Tyrone Wells and loved his music (and still do). I thought it was appropriate to take this song and edit this video together. This is the only music video I’ve ever made and MTV pulled it after one day because the publishing company refused to let us use it even though everyone was on board. I hope the music still plays on this, if not go look up the song “Dream like New York” because it’s a wonderful piece of music.
