New release : I play on one side of this split album "Handless Guitars - Volume 3" Initiated by the duo NowCut on their label Via Cava, Handless Guitars is a series of "split album" compilations that invites musicians to interpret a specific constraint: playing guitars without any direct intervention of the hands on the strings. This is no easy task, and it requires a complete shift in habits. The responses are compiled into a series of split albums, featuring Cigvė + NowCut, Richard Comte + Simon Henocq, and Alex January + myself for the first three volumes. On Volume 3, Alex January plays feedback loops without touching his guitar on Side A. For my part, I use a vibrating motor placed on the strings (a small adult toy) and various effects downstream of the audio signal. Le Placard returns to Paris today for a 72-hour continuous headphone festival starting today ! The event is hosted at La Générale Nord Est (39 rue Gassendi 75014 Paris). All sound is played exclusively through headphones, meaning the physical room remains silent ! It also means everyone has the same sound and a wide stereo image... This marathon runs non-stop day and night: a 72 hour continuous listening session. This edition is also an opportunity to remember Harold Schellinx, who passed away this year and was a big contributor to the previous Placards. Attendees must wear headphones to hear the 72 hour program of mostly noise, musique concrète, and electronic music. The schedule features artists such as Przemyslaw Sanecki, Roro Perrot (aka Vomir) , Vincent Epplay + Olivier Lasson, and Lai Tsung Yun, Apo33, Erik Minkkinen, Simon Whetham, Andy Bolus, Gael Segalen, Emilia Wysocka, Zaraz Wam Zagram, Lauren Rodz, Emmanuelle Gibello, Marie Tirard, Paul Laurent, Julien Clauss, and many more. Great pleasure to announce the release of this LP on ADN Records. I had the great pleasure of working on the sound (pre-mastering) and playing a little guitar on one track. Dominique Grimaud and Véronique Vilhet reinvent themselves from album to album and regularly release little gems (since AAHH! on Bam Balam in 2015). Dominique Grimaud is a pivotal figure in the French underground scene. From his early days with Camizole and Video-Aventures, he has built an impressive history of collaborations with Gilbert Artman (Urban Sax), Jac Berrocal, Guigou Chenevier (Etron Fou Leloublan), Pascal Comelade, Pierre Bastien, Rick Brown & Sue Garner, and Cyril Lefebvre. Véronique Vilhet brings a distinct, organic energy to their collaboration. Before this duo, she played free music with the band Johnny Be Crotte and was a key participant in the renowned street theatre company Royal de Luxe.
