Stills from 独一无二 (The One), chinese adaptation of CODA. Loved the look that we worked out with cinematographer Sam Zhang (张嘉昊) @samzhangfff , and director 王沐. Beautifully shot it brings forward a look rarely see in chinese films, mixing creamy textures, breathing contrast and a warmth throughout the film combined with pastel hues.

Overcoming my usual procrastination and my peak of work for Chinese New Year, I'm uploading one of the several films released last year that I haven't shared here yet (more to come in the coming days).
"Mostly Sunny" (or 阳光俱乐部), by the incredible director and cinematographer duo of Wei Shujun (魏书钧) and ChengMa (程马志远) @seetry . They are always able to capture such a big range of stories, emotions and symbolisms with a freshness that seems to come out of them naturally.
We went heavy on this one for the film emulation, trying not to be too far from the previous film shot on super 16mm. Although we learnt quite a few things for the next one, the result was also very unique and fresh, especially in the context of the Chinese film industry.

We spent quite some time creating a pack of LUTs from scratch, and refining the look after shooting in a very elegant and modern-classic fashion.
Also, we did some very interesting work on the "colorized B&W" sections of the film.
