Well, it’s that time of the school year again… portfolio review! As always, we had to make another cinematography reel for what we shot this school year, so here’s mine! Overall, I’ll have to say that this school year was solid! I got to work with many new people from school and even work way more on outside projects. I learned so much more this year from both mistakes and successes through my various projects! It’s a little bittersweet to think that I only have one more year left here at UNCSA, but for sure, it was an unforgettable year. Last week was our senior trip to New York City! I was luckily able to spend five days in the city with some of my closest friends, adventuring to some of the coolest spots. We also were able to check out cool places like the ARRI rental house and MLB headquarters, thanks to some of our professors! During the trip, I also stayed in New Jersey thanks to Aiden, which was my first time visiting the state! Because the school year is ending very soon, this is sadly my last trip or break, if you want to call it that. The whole trip was bittersweet, knowing that after this, we all will graduate and move on to do better things! I definitely won’t be forgetting this trip, and I can’t wait to move up to New York very soon! I hope you guys enjoy the photos. Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to go on a little exchange trip to Berlin! Our goal was to create a little short film, learn as much as possible, and, of course, to have fun. On the project, I served as the 1st assistant camera. Because of the broader selection of equipment, I was able to learn a ton of new skills and work with tools that we didn’t have back home. This trip was a pretty awesome experience, and it was my first time visiting Europe. I couldn’t have asked for a better group to be part of on this journey! Of course, we made new friends in Germany, all of them super amazing and helpful with our production and getting around the city. Special thanks to @anne.chladek for the extra help and of course setting up a meeting for us at Vantage Berlin. I’ve been holding on to these photos for a while, waiting for the right time to look at them and edit them. So they’re a tad bit old, haha! This trip is, by far, one of my favorite memories, and while editing these photos, I was flooded with all the good times I had with my closest friends. From the techno clubs, döner kebab’s, and cool places we got to go to, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. I hope you guys enjoy some of the snaps! Earlier this month, I revisited Jeju Island in Korea. The last time I’d visited was about 10 years ago, so it was amazing to be back there and see how much the island had changed. During the trip, I decided not to take any raw photos and to only play around with film recipes in the camera. Before the trip, I found some recipes online that caught my interest, which inspired me to, for once, take only JPEGS. I had a great time hanging out with my lovely family on this trip. There was also some excellent seafood and tangerines that were had on the vacation. Last year, I joined the Fable of Fey team as the DoP for my third-year thesis here at UNCSA. This project was an exciting and stressful experience! Working on something within the fantasy genre was super fun, as this was my first time working on a project like this. During the production process, we had a couple of bumps here and there, as with most other productions; a couple of the issues were things we least expected, haha. Despite all of this, my team was able to troop through and help create a fantastic experience and final product. Ultimately, I’m super happy with how the film turned out, and I walked away shooting this with much more knowledge. I hope you guys enjoy the stills! Hey guys, here’s a few snapshots taken from New York City! This was my first time… EVER, visiting the place. I gotta say, I honestly love the place and how chaotic and full of character manhattan is. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted any of my work, so I wanted to share a recent small project of mine that I just completed. A few months ago I set out to create a small music video for my 16mm class, and I gotta say, I think the video came out better then I expected. We decided to go with the song BLUE by @billieeilish since we thought the song had the foundation for a super fun but also small project. Plus we’re all big fans! I’m super proud of what my team was able to accomplish and how the overall video turned out. Shooting on motion picture film for the first time was a pretty scary but rewarding and fun! If given the opportunity again to shoot on film, I would do it in a heartbeat. Anyways hope you guys enjoy the video! Words can’t explain how happy I am to be finished with my second year! The final version of Hunt & Outlaw officially was just turned in today. This film was truly a blast to work on and made me really go out of my comfort zone and learn so much more on being a cinematographer.
