Poster design for @austinfc vs @lagalaxy
Swipe for concept sketches! This idea started as a 60s era boxing poster. Half tones, big bold colors and text. But after messing around with it, it began to take on more of a Rockwellian feel with more focus on the emotions of the crowd. Just have to let the doodle gods guide you sometimes.
I often work back and forth from traditional sketching and digital work. Been really digging the trace paper these days… Nothing beats the feel of pencils and markers on real paper.
Devastated to hear that @chilis on 45th and North Lamar is being sold. Another Austin legend leaves us.

Design vs Reality
Originally I had planned to use a projector to map out this mural for @austinfc . But after the horrifying discovery that mine wasn’t powerful enough for an image this large, I was forced to free hand this whole thing. What was supposed to be a simple tracing task turned into a 2 day sketching / taping / head scratching fiasco. But I’m proud to say that it turned out pretty damn close to the original idea.
Some little takeaways from my mural with @austinfc . This was my first “real” mural and proved to be quite the challenge. A tight timeline, painting on a corrugated surface, using a lift for the first time, battling the worst allergies of my life, and managing a canvas of this scale required me to learn on the fly. It was a wild two weeks but I’m happy to say we got it done with time to spare.
Onwards and upwards 🫶
