DETOURS (vhs, 2002) Intro | MIDUS, RAWBZILLA, DAVIDE ELSEWHERE, KUJO.
This material, released on VHS tape in 2002, holds significant importance. It features four dancers—Midus, rawbzilla, Davide elsewhere, and kujo—each showcasing their unique styles and originality in different chapters. Throughout, various dancers make guest appearances. This work is both challenging and progressive, breaking the traditional and conservative paradigms of street dance.

Timeless Movement

Red Rock Canyon
Lying dormant on the ocean floor until 600 million years ago. This location was chosen because fossils are still being discovered there today.
What kind of movements did the creatures that lived at that time make?
As I contemplated this, I visualized the creatures who lived in the water at the time that can no longer be seen.
Then came time to express it.
Intuitively, this location was selected as we felt it would be a suitable complement to our movements.
Amazing artists collaborated together for this project.

If you have an interest in Breaking, I highly recommend this book. The Birth of Breaking: Hip-Hop History from the Floor Up, is a fascinating dive into the story of how the dance known as Breaking or BBoying originated. It documents the seminal time in the Bronx where the movements of a few created a worldwide movement.
The author, my friend Serouj Aprahamian, aka Midus of Style Elements, Originality Stands Alone, and Detours, is probably one of the only people to ever get an actual PhD in the history of Breaking.
