I am officially a member of Garage/Surf/Swamp rock band Future Primitives/@futureprimitivesband ! I will be standing on the shoulders of former drummer Jimmy McGeachy and laying down the beats for @blackasmatt on šø and @dj_jackson_______ on š¹. If my fill in gig last weekend was anything to go by, itās going to be a hoot! My induction takes place this Saturday over coffee and lunchā¦ More gigs to follow after that. Assuming I survive the inductionā¦ š³
The second Paiste Signature Crash Cymbal I have cracked in recent times after 35 years of owning these gems. My 18ā Fast Crash gets used in every band I play in and I ride it pretty hard. Off to @sollidcymbalrepairs it goes to get fixed before it gets any worse. Glad I caught this one early.
Oops! I bought another drum kit! Levelled up to a Ludwig Centennial kit in striking red sparkle and put it through its paces last night at a Fun Again rehearsal. The tone, depth and punch is majestic. Moving down from a 26ā to 24ā bass drum also makes for easier reach of the rack tom. The kit is in great condition. Thanks Rick Hawkins for looking after it so well. I also gave my new Black Beauty snare a spin. Thanks Andrew Horne for offering it to me first. Iām a happy drummer boy š„ š š

What a super fun night it was on Saturday night. Both my bands Fun Again and Nursery Crimes at Marrickville Bowlo in Sydney. Last weekend marked two years since playing š„ live again, following an extensive break. Iām really happy with the progress Iāve made over the past couple of years. Playing in @fun_again_band_ and @nursery.crimes.official , along with almost daily time behind the practice kit, has challenged and developed my listening skills and technique. I am having the most fun ever. Hereās a number we played last weekend at Bank Rock 5. āLifeās a Dragā by my old friendsā band The Stupids š¬š§.
