Best sunset I’ve ever captured? Yep. In #pittsburgh or anywhere else. The sky looked like something out of Stranger Things as manmatus clouds rolled in after the storms, creating an absolutely otherworldly scene. Still can’t believe I captured these. Just unreal.

It may be rainy now but early this morning there wasn’t a cloud in the sky above #pittsburgh and the sunrise was beautiful from the West End. The weeds are getting pretty tall along the railing but I was able to frame the city with a couple trees at the edge of the overlook which worked out pretty well.

A view from this morning on Allegheny Landing in #pittsburgh. Since it was overcast I was looking for other compositions and found that the new tables along there are perfect for reflections. Ended up with a bunch I like but I think that this one is my favorite.

So cool to see the Shore Thing back on the North Shore of #pittsburgh yesterday morning! It doesn’t open until next week, but I took the opportunity yesterday to capture it at sunrise and it made for a beautiful view. For those who don’t know about it, it’s a floating bar right on the Allegheny River, and I gotta say, I swear the beer tasted better relaxing on the river and looking at the skyline.

This morning’s sunrise in #pittsburgh wasn’t anything too crazy, but it’s always nice to have a backdrop like this for the skyline. The rivers were a little choppy, but I found this puddle below the Duquesne Incline and the contrast of the pebbles and the colorful sky made for a pretty cool scene. Normally I don’t like to have power lines in the scene, but the two birds enjoying the view were a nice touch as well.

Hope all the moms out there had a great Mother’s Day!
Little anniversary post today, and by little I mean the opposite. Two years ago tonight I was chasing the Northern Lights around #pittsburgh, as it was first time I had ever seen them let alone captured them. There were so bright and were visible for so long that I had time to get from Mt. Washington to Schenley Oval to the West End. Though I’ve shot them five times over the city now, that first time was pure magic.

A very Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there! Sunrise in #Pittsburgh this morning was the perfect one for Mother’s Day, as pink and purple clouds filled the sky behind the Steel City. The overlooks on Grandview Avenue were the perfect spot to capture this beautiful start to the day.

It has been a WEEK at work (my day job is in corporate finance and it’s our monthly close which means no time for us finance guys), so I haven’t got out to capture #pittsburgh much. But since it’s a rainy Friday afternoon here’s a little sunshine on a scene long gone, as these trees along Grandview Avenue have been cut down. I miss framing the city from up there!

I had hoped to catch the moon balancing on the tip of the PNC Tower in downtown #Pittsburgh last wee, but that band of clouds was in *just* the wrong spot. Still, I thought it was pretty cool to capture three of the most distinctive rooftops in the city along with the moon, and it made for a really interesting scene.

One more set of Star Wars images for today, this time shot on film. The characters you see are actually part of a projection INSIDE the camera, where it overlays them directly onto the film. It’s a camera that was released in 1999 for ‘The Phantom Menace’ and I am shocked how well it worked. Looking forward to trying more of these around the #pittsburgh this year!
